1. European Council President Antonio Costa and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen witness Republic Day Parade as Chief Guests.

2. The Indian diaspora across the world celebrated India’s 77th Republic Day with enthusiasm at Indian missions abroad, where the national tricolour was unfurled and patriotic fervour was on full display.

3. After nearly two decades
negotiations, India
the European Union have successfully concluded talks for a comprehensive free trade agreement (FTA), a milestone expected to significantly expand two-way trade, boost investment flows and deepen economic integration between the two sides.

4. Britain’s King Charles III has conveyed warm Republic Day greetings to President Droupadi Murmu and the people of India, praising the enduring India-UK partnership rooted in shared Commonwealth values. He also congratulated India on securing the 2030 Commonwealth Games in Ahmedabad.

5. India is participating as a partner country at Gulfood 2026, the world’s largest annual food and beverage sourcing event, which opened yesterday in Dubai across two venues for the first time in its 31-year history.

6. The High Commission of India in Sri Lanka celebrated the 77th Republic Day in all its diplomatic offices in the island. High Commissioner of India Santosh Jha unfurled the National flag at India House in Colombo yesterday.

1. Massive winter storm in the US, knocks out power services, disrupts thousands of flights and leaves several dead.

2. Major Gulf carriers have cancelled and rescheduled multiple flights to the United States as Winter Storm Fern brings heavy snow, ice and strong winds across large parts of North America, triggering widespread disruption at major airports.

3. Nepali Congress becomes the largest party in the Upper House of Nepal. The Nepali Congress (NC) and the CPN-UML emerged victorious in the National Assembly elections.

4. In the Philippines, a ferry with more than 350 people on board sank in the southern Philippines. The Ferry was travelling from Zamboanga to Jolo Island in Sulu province with a total of 359 people on board, consisting of 332 registered passengers and 27 crew members.

5. UNESCO has announced an emergency assistance package to protect cultural heritage and sustain education in parts of Vietnam which were heavily affected by storms in November last year. The emergency assistance package is valued at around 740,000 dollars.
