Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose was born on 23 January, 1897 in Cuttack, Orissa. He was one of the most prominent Indian freedom fighters. His army was known as Indian National Army (INA) or Azad Hind Fauj. He also led an Indian national force from abroad against the Western powers during World War II.

The festival of Basant Panchami or Vasant Panchami is also known as ‘Saraswati Panchami’ or ‘Shri Panchami’ is a popular festival in India. On this day Hindus offer Saraswati Puja to worship Goddess Saraswati, the Goddess of wisdom, knowledge, arts and music, with complete devotion and gaiety. On the day of Basant Panchami, people dress up in yellow clothes. Yellow is a color that signifies vibrancy of life and vividness of nature.
Basant Panchami is celebrated on the ‘Panchami’ (5th day) of the Shukla Paksha (bright fortnight of moon) in the month of ‘Magha’ in Hindu calendar, which corresponds to the month of January-February in the English calendar. It marks the beginning of the spring season or Vasant Ritu in India.

Tulsi mala’ is seen worn by ‘Vishnu’ and ‘Krishna’ devotees and Buddhists prefer the black ‘Tulsi mala’. It is often used for chanting mantras and even meditating. ‘Tulsi’ beads are not only medicinal but help in cleansing the mind and soul. It is believed that the use of Tulsi beads, purify the mind, body as well as the soul of a person.
