1. President Droupadi Murmu to inaugurate 2nd Indian Rice Congress at ICAR-National Rice Research Institute, Cuttack.

2. President Droupadi Murmu addressed the Foundation Day Celebration of Jnanaprabha Mission at Bhubaneswar.

3. PM Modi inaugurated the Uttar Pradesh Global Investors Summit 2023 in Lucknow. The 10-12 February event is expected to be attended by several ministers of the Union and the state government and a host of leading industrialists.

Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) successfully launched the second edition of the Small Satellite Launch Vehicle (SSLV-D2) from the first launch pad of Satish Dhawan space centre at Sriharikota, Andhra Pradesh. ISRO’s EOS-07, US-based firm Antaris’ Janus-1, and Chennai-based space startup SpaceKidz’s AzaadiSAT-2 – into a 450 km circular orbit during its 15-minute flight, the ISRO said.

10. Hyderabad’s Nizam Asaf Jahi dynasty, the Majlis-E-Sahebzadagan Society on Friday announced its decision to designate Nawab Raunaq Khan, as 9th Nizam of Hyderabad, in place of Prince Azmet Jah.

Last month, Azmet Jah was anointed as the successor of eight titular Nizam, Nawab Mir Barkat Ali Khan Walashan Mukarram Jah Bahadur, who passed away in Turkey.

Rajasthan CM Ashok Gehlot on Friday apologised after he read excerpts from the last year’s Budget in the state Assembly instead of the Budget 2023-24. “I feel sorry, what happened was by mistake,” Gehlot said. Notably, the Assembly was adjourned for half an hour after Gehlot erroneously read the last year’s Budget for seven minutes before being interrupted.

3. The Delhi High Court on Friday directed Delhi Police’s Crime Branch to conduct an investigation into the sale of the banned Chinese ‘Kite manjha’ and file a comprehensive status report.

4. The Uttar Pradesh government has suspended a coach named Abdul Ahad who was seen getting a body massage by a young cricketer at Ravindra Kishore Shahi Sports Stadium in a widely circulated video.

4. Kotak Mahindra Bank on Friday said it would acquire Sonata Finance Private Limited, a non-banking finance company, for ₹537 crore in an all-cash deal.

5. India’s foreign exchange reserves declined after nearly three weeks, falling $1.494 billion to $575.267 billion in the week ended February 3. This is the biggest drop since October 21.

6. What is BHIM?

BHIM (Bharat Interface for Money) is a UPI enabled initiative to facilitate safe, easy & instant digital payments through your mobile phone.

BHIM is an Indian mobile payment app developed by the National Payments Corporation of India, based on the Unified Payments Interface. Launched on 30 December 2016, it is intended to facilitate e-payments directly through banks and encourage cashless transactions.

1. Yesterday Google honored PK Rosy who became the first female lead in Malayalam cinema with a doodle. PK Rosy was born on 10th February 1903 in Thiruvananthapuram formerly known as Trivandrum. Google remembers PK Rosy, the first woman leader in Malayalam on her 120th birth anniversary. She was the first actress to work in Malayalam films with JC Daniel’s Vigathakumaran.

2. The wedding of Gautam Madhavan, son of K Madhavan (President, The Walt Disney Company India and Star India), took place in Jaipur on February 9th.

1. Passing out parade of 74 RR batch of Indian Police Service (IPS) probationers to be held at Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel National Police Academy (SVPNPA) at Hyderabad.

2. India is all set to relaunch INS Vikramaditya, a former Soviet carrier acquired from Russia following a major refit. The relaunch of the aircraft carrier is part of a critical step by India toward fulfilling its plan to deploy two carrier battle groups in the Indian Ocean Region (IOR).

The INS Vikramaditya has participated in joint exercises with other navies, including the US Navy and the Russian Navy. This has helped to build interoperability and enhance cooperation between navies, which is important for promoting regional stability and security.

3. India’s indigenous defence production in the last three financial years was worth ₹2.58 lakh crore, Minister of State for Defence Ajay Bhatt said. “The value of indigenous defence production in…2019-20, 2020-21 and 2021-22 is ₹79,071 crore, ₹84,643 crore and ₹94,846 crore, respectively.
