1. The Ministry of Defence announces free passes for the Full Dress Rehearsal of the Republic Day 2026 Parade at Kartavya Path. The Full Dress Rehearsal of this year’s Republic Day will be held on January 23.

2. The Defence Research and Development Organization (DRDO) successfully flight-tested its Man Portable Anti-Tank Guided Missile with top attack capability against a moving target in Hyderabad.

3. India’s first solar-powered spy drone to become part of the Army: The Indian Army has signed a Rs 168 crore deal with a Bengaluru-based startup for solar-powered spy drones, a move expected to strengthen the Army’s future warfare readiness.

The system, called the Medium Altitude Persistent Surveillance System, or MAPSS, has been developed by Bengaluru-based NewSpace Research & Technologies under the Defence Ministry’s iDEX innovation programme.

4. DRDO has successfully flight-tested the Man Portable Anti-Tank Guided Missile with top-attack capability against a moving target in Maharashtra. The third-generation fire-and-forget missile strengthens India’s indigenous defence capability and is a major step towards Aatmanirbhar Bharat.

5. An Indian army officer from Bengaluru, Major Swathi Shantha Kumar, has won the UN Secretary General’s Award 2025 for her project Equal Partners, Lasting Peace.

Major Swathi is currently serving on an United Nations Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS) and her efforts are said to have significantly enhanced gender parity through the effective deployment and integration of the Indian Engagement team.
