1. Bangladesh declares three days of state mourning after former PM Khaleda Zia’s death.
Begum Khaleda Zia who was the first woman Prime Minister of Bangladesh, passed away in Dhaka yesterday morning. She was 80 year old..
Begum Khaleda Zia (15 August 1946 – 30 December 2025) was a Bangladeshi politician who served as the prime minister of Bangladesh from 1991 to 1996 and again from 2001 to 2006. She was the first female prime minister of Bangladesh and the second female prime minister in the Muslim world after Benazir Bhutto. She was the wife of former president of Bangladesh and army commander, Ziaur Rahman. She was the chairperson and leader of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) from 1984 onwards, which had been founded by her husband in 1978.
2. Russia warned of non-diplomatic response to a failed Ukrainian drone attack on President Vladimir Putin’s state residence in the Novgorod Region. Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova described the attempted attack as unprecedented, saying it happened at a critical moment when plans were being discussed in the United States.
3. Protests erupted in Iran after the country’s currency plummeted to a record low against the U.S. dollar and the head of the Central Bank resigned.
4. Saudi Arabia bombed the port city of Mukalla in Yemen in early hours today. The airstrikes were launched after ships arrived there from Fujairah, a port city on the UAE’s eastern coast.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has announced that US President Donald Trump will be conferred Israel’s highest civilian honour, the Israel Prize for Peace, following high-level bilateral talks in Florida.
