The historic bucket came on a step-back jump shot near the end of the third quarter as Abdul-Jabbar looked on. James raised his arms in celebration, and his family joined him on the floor for a mid-game ceremony alongside Abdul-Jabbar and NBA commissioner Adam Silver.
“To be able to be in the presence of such a legend and great as Kareem, it means so much to me,” an emotional James said. “It’s very humbling.”
