1. Parliament has passed the Repealing and Amending Bill, 2025 with the Rajya Sabha approving it yesterday after discussion. Lok Sabha had passed this legislation. The Bill repeals 71 Acts and also amends four Acts.

2. The Parliament has also given nod to the Sabka Bima Sabki Raksha (Amendment of Insurance Laws) Bill 2025 with the Rajya Sabha approving it.

3. The Lok Sabha has taken up the Viksit Bharat-Guarantee for Rozgar and Ajeevika Mission (Gramin): Viksit Bharat -G RAM G, Bill 2025 for consideration and passing. The legislation will replace the twenty-year-old Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act, 2005 (MGNREGA). The Bill seeks to establish a rural development framework aligned with the national vision of Viksit Bharat at 2047.

4. The Lok Sabha has passed the Sustainable Harnessing and Advancement of Nuclear Energy for Transforming India Bill, 2025 with amendments. The Bill is aimed at the development of nuclear energy and ionising radiation for nuclear power generation for the welfare of the countrymen.

5. The Lok Sabha on Wednesday cleared the Sustainable Harnessing and Advancement of Nuclear Energy for Transforming India (SHANTI) Bill that seeks to open up the closely-guarded nuclear power sector to private industry.

6. The Ministry of Panchayati Raj has launched SabhaSaar, an AI-enabled voice-to-text meeting summarisation tool, to strengthen transparency and efficiency in grassroots governance.

7. Vice-President Shri C. P. Radhakrishnan described Guru Tegh Bahadur as a universal symbol of supreme sacrifice and moral courage. Mr Radhakrishnan said this while addressing an Interfaith Conclave to commemorate the 350th martyrdom anniversary of Guru Tegh Bahadur in New Delhi.

The National Highways Authority of India has introduced India’s first wildlife-safe highway on NH-45 in Madhya Pradesh, featuring table-top red road markings, wildlife underpasses, and eco-sensitive design to reduce animal-vehicle collisions while balancing infrastructure growth and conservation.

9. Punjab’s ruling Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) swept the zila parishad and panchayat samiti elections held on Sunday.

10. Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy will address newly-elected sarpanches backed by the Congress at LB Stadium here on December 24.

11. India has achieved a landmark expansion in high-performance computing by deploying 37 supercomputers under the National Supercomputing Mission (NSM). This initiative, informed to the Lok Sabha by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology.

12. The Ministry of Textiles, in association with the National Industrial Corridor Development Corporation, conducted a stakeholder consultation meeting in New Delhi to explore partnership opportunities for the development of PM Mega Integrated Textile Region and Apparel (PM MITRA) Parks.

1. Amid worsening air quality in the NCR, the Supreme Court on Wednesday allowed the Delhi Government take coercive action against old vehicles that do not meet Bharat Stage IV (BS IV) emission standards.

2. Chhattisgarh Liquor Scam: Deputy secretary to former chief minister Bhupesh Baghel was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in connection with the alleged liquor scam that took place between 2019- 2022.

3. Amid formation of new districts in Andhra Pradesh, Hindupur-based organisations and activists have started a campaign to make Hindupur as the headquarters of the Satya Sai district. These activists are mounting pressure on Hindupur MLA Nandamuri Balakrishna to be part of their movement to make Hindupur as the district headquarters.

4. The Karnataka government tabled the Hate Speech and Hate Crimes (Prevention) Bill amid opposition from BJP leaders in the Legislative Assembly in Belagavi on December 10.

Hate speech: According to the Bill, hate speech refers to any expression made with intent or cause injury, disharmony or hatred against a person or a community.

1. Google has launched its first-ever global credit card in India in partnership with Axis Bank on the RuPay network.

Google Pay has launched a new co-branded digital credit card, FLEX, in partnership with Axis Bank, marking a significant step in the convergence of credit cards and UPI-based payments in India.

2. The Government of India has extended the tenure of SBI Managing Director Ashwini Kumar Tewari by two years till December 31, 2027. This is his second extension, highlighting continuity in leadership at India’s largest public sector bank.

3. The Pension Fund Regulatory and Development Authority (PFRDA) has announced key changes to the National Pension System (NPS). Under the revised norms, non-government (private sector) NPS subscribers can now withdraw up to 80 per cent of their accumulated pension corpus, compared to the earlier cap of 60 per cent.

1. India and the United Arab Emirates have launched the second edition of their joint military exercise, Desert Cyclone II, marking another step in deepening bilateral defence and strategic cooperation. The exercise is being conducted in Abu Dhabi from December 18 to 30 and focuses on enhancing joint operational capabilities in complex urban warfare environments.

2. In a first, an Indian Coast Guard (ICG) ship is on a four-day visit to the strategic port of Chabahar in Iran. The Shahid Beheshti terminal at the port is operated by India for sending supplies to Afghanistan and is also part of the planned International North-South Transport Corridor (INSTC) linking India to Russia.

3. India has opened its airbases to Russia under the newly ratified RELOS military aviation pact, marking a significant evolution in bilateral defence ties.

4. The Indian Navy will commission its second MH-60R helicopter squadron, INAS 335 (Ospreys), at INS Hansa in Goa.

5. The joint military exercise Harimau Shakti 2025 between India and Malaysia is underway at the Mahajan Field Firing Range in Rajasthan and will continue until December 18.

6. Chief of Army Staff General Upendra Dwivedi today interacted with Indian Defence Accounts Service probationers in New Delhi. The Indian Army said that during the interaction, General Dwivedi highlighted the evolving character of warfare and underscored the importance of a strong, symbiotic military-civil relationship in advancing the modernisation of the Armed Forces.
