1. Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri met U.S. Deputy Trade Representative Rick Switzer.

2. Deepavali, the festival of lights, has been inscribed on UNESCO’s List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity, announced at the 20th UNESCO Intergovernmental Committee session at New Delhi’s Red Fort from December 8-13, 2025. It is the 16th Indian element on this list.

3. Prime Minister Narendra Modi yesterday spoke to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu over the phone. During the telephonic conversation, both leaders expressed satisfaction at the continued momentum in India-Israel Strategic Partnership and reaffirmed their commitment to further strengthening these ties for mutual benefits.

4. Union Health Ministry, in partnership with the World Health Organisation, rolled out a month-long Delhi Metro campaign on Women’s and Girls’ Health and well-being in New Delhi.

5. Thirty three Indian fishermen were freed from Sri Lankan prisons. The fishermen from Nagapattinam, Mayiladuthurai, Kottaipattinam and Rameswaram who were in Sri Lankan prisons were arrested on 3rd November.

1. The United States has reinforced its strategic interest in Pakistan’s critical minerals by approving major financing for the Reko Diq mining project in Balochistan. The $1.25-billion support from the US Export-Import Bank marks one of Washington’s largest mineral-sector partnerships in Pakistan and signals a shift in regional geopolitical alignments.

2. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has qualified the first AI-powered tool designed to assist doctors in assessing a severe form of fatty liver disease during drug trials. The tool, called AIM-NASH, marks a major advancement in how artificial intelligence can be used to accelerate drug development, improve diagnostic consistency, and reduce the resource burden on researchers.

3. The Election Commission of Nepal has established the Office of the Election Officer for the proportional representation (PR) election system, ahead of the House of Representatives (HoR) election scheduled for 5 March 2026. Acting Chief Election Commissioner Ram Prasad Bhandari inaugurated the office.

4. Renowned British author Sophie Kinsella, born Madeleine Sophie Wickham, has passed away at the age of 55 after a prolonged battle with glioblastoma.

5. Bridge Summit 2025, the world’s largest debut media event, concluded today at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre after a three-day programme.
