1. India’s Ambassador to the United States Vinay Mohan Kwatra, met US Under Secretary of State Jacob S Helberg in Washington and discussed a mutually beneficial trade deal and technology cooperation.

2. The International Monetary Fund said that India’s economy is estimated to grow at 6.6 per cent in 2025-26. It noted that the Goods and Services Tax reforms are likely to help cushion the country from the adverse impact of the 50 per cent tariffs imposed by the US.

3. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and his Indonesian counterpart Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin co-chaired the third India-Indonesia Defence Ministers’ Dialogue in New Delhi. Both leaders reaffirmed long-standing strategic partnership and deepening bilateral defence cooperation between the two sides.

4. Nepal’s central bank on Thursday issued new Rs 100 currency notes featuring a revised map that includes the Kalapani, Lipulekh and Limpiyadhura territories, the regions India maintains belong to it.

The new note from the Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB) bears the signature of previous Governor Maha Prasad Adhikari.

1. The Election Commission of Nepal has decided to extend the time for political parties to register for the March 5 election to the House of Representatives by another four days. The deadline was supposed to expire on November 26.

2. The deep depression off Sri Lanka’s eastern coast has intensified into Cyclonic Storm Ditwa, located about 120 km southeast of Batticaloa and moving north-northwest. Authorities expect further strengthening, bringing rainfall above 200 mm in several districts, winds up to 70 km/h and isolated gusts of 80 km/h. School examinations have been suspended nationwide, with warnings that severe weather will persist in the coming days.

3. In Hong Kong, the death toll from a fire that tore through a apartment complex has risen to 75.

4. South Africa has termed US President Donald Trump’s statement of not inviting the African nation to attend the next year’s G20 Summit in Miami as regrettable. President Cyril Ramaphosa said that South Africa is a member of the G20 in its own name and right and its G20 membership is at the behest of all other members.

5. A US-Russian crew of three began a mission to the International Space Station aboard a Russian spacecraft. A Soyuz booster rocket lifted off yesterday from Baikonur launch facility in Kazakhstan to put the Soyuz MS-28 into orbit.

6. A meeting of the Nepali Congress central working committee is scheduled for today on November 28.

7. In China, a test train crashed into a group of railway workers in Yunnan province early yesterday morning, killing 11 people and injuring two others.

8. An earthquake of magnitude 6.6 struck off the western coast of Sumatra Island, Indonesia.

9. A special court in Dhaka has sentenced former Bangladesh prime minister Sheikh Hasina to a total of 21 years in prison after convicting her in three corruption cases linked to irregularities in land allocation under a major government housing scheme.
