1. President Droupadi Murmu will embark on a two nation tour to Angola and Botswana today. The President will visit Angola on the first leg of her tour at the invitation of her counterpart João Manuel Gonçalves Lourenço. India and Angola are celebrating the 40th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations this year.
2. India’s Defence Secretary visited facilities of Israeli defense companies including Rafael Advanced Defense Systems, Elbit Systems, and Israel Aerospace Industries to explore new projects under the Make in India initiative.
3. India-Israel Defence MoU: India and Israel have signed a new MOU during the 17th Joint Working Group meeting in Tel Aviv that will enable sharing of advanced defense technologies and co-development and co-production.

6. Saikat Chakrabarti, an Indian-origin political strategist and technologist, has announced his candidacy to succeed Nancy Pelosi following her decision to retire from the US Congress. Pelosi, 85, one of the most influential figures in American politics, confirmed she would not seek re-election in 2026.

1. The Pakistani government plans to table the 27th constitutional amendment granting greater powers to Pakistan Army Chief, moving from democracy to what’s being called ‘Asim-ocracy’.

The United States has successfully conducted a test launch of its Minuteman III Intercontinental Ballistic Missile (ICBM) from Vandenberg Space Force Base in California, just days after President Donald Trump called for the resumption of America’s nuclear testing programme. The missile, unarmed during the trial, travelled approximately 7,500 kilometres before striking its designated target near the Ronald Reagan Ballistic Missile Defense Test Site in the Marshall Islands.

Japan and the United States have announced a strategic collaboration to develop deep-sea mining operations near Japan’s Minamitorishima Island, aiming to secure rare earth resources vital for advanced technologies and defence. The move is part of a broader effort to counter China’s near-total dominance over the global rare earth supply chain.
4. NASA has confirmed that Earth is experiencing its most powerful geomagnetic storm of 2025, a G5-level event driven by a series of intense solar eruptions. The rare phenomenon has produced breathtaking auroras visible far beyond polar regions while raising scientific concern about its impact on global communication and power systems.
