Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that national song Vande Mataram is not just a song, but an expression of the soul of India. The PM inaugurated the year-long commemoration of 150 years of the National Song Vande Mataram in New Delhi.

PM Modi released a Commemorative Stamp and Coin on the occasion. He also launched the portal – “vandemataram150.in”, where citizens can upload their videos of singing the national song and earn a certificate.

2. PM Modi reached Varanasi, yesterday evening. Upon arrival, the people of Varanasi and party workers gave the Prime Minister a grand welcome. During his visit, the Prime Minister will flag off four new Vande Bharat Express trains today. The new Vande Bharat Express trains will operate on the Banaras-Khajuraho, Lucknow-Saharanpur, Firozpur-Delhi, and Ernakulam-Bengaluru routes.

3. Election Commission said that scrutiny of documents was conducted smoothly in all 121 Assembly Constituencies which went to polls in first phase of Bihar assembly elections.

4. The election campaigning for the second and final phase of the Bihar Assembly elections has reached on peak. Senior leaders and star campaigners of the NDA and the Mahagathbandhan, along with leaders of other parties, are trying to woo the voters.

5. The meeting of the Network Planning Group under Pradhan Mantri Gati Shakti was convened yesterday to evaluate infrastructure projects related to Roads, Transport and Highways, and Railways. During the meeting, the discussions focused on strengthening multimodal connectivity and improving logistics efficiency in alignment with the PM Gati Shakti National Master Plan.

6. All India Institute of Medical Science had organized a Public Lecture in New Delhi ahead of National Cancer Awareness Day. Organized under the theme of Prevention to Palliation, the lecture highlighted the importance of cancer prevention, early detection, advancements in treatment, and comprehensive supportive and palliative care. More than 300 students from various Kendriya Vidyalaya schools under the Delhi Region attended the event.

India has initiated major strategic moves to reinforce its control over the Siliguri Corridor, also known as the ‘Chicken’s Neck,’ amid growing concerns over Bangladesh’s interim government warming up to Pakistan. The decision to establish new garrisons along the border underscores India’s intent to secure its Northeast connectivity and prevent potential geopolitical vulnerabilities.

8. India is preparing for the next All India Tiger Estimation (AITE) in 2026 — the world’s largest and most detailed wildlife survey. With over 3,682 tigers recorded in 2022, nearly 75 per cent of the global wild population, the upcoming census goes beyond counting stripes; it measures the pulse of the country’s ecosystems, from prey density to forest health.

9. The first biennial conference of BIMSTEC-India Marine Research Network, BIMReN, was hosted in Kochi from 4th to 6th of this month, reinforcingthe country’s Blue Economy cooperation in the Bay of Bengal region.

BIMReN is an initiative of the External Affairs Ministry launched in 2024, which enables institutional collaborations, linking leading Indian research institutions with BIMSTEC countries.

10. In the latest global assessment by the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN), Khangchendzonga National Park has earned a rare distinction: it is the only Indian natural World Heritage Site to receive a “Good” rating. This comes at a time when other Indian heritage sites like the Western Ghats, Sundarbans, and Manas Wildlife Sanctuary are listed with concerns or threats.

11. In Jammu and Kashmir, the Frontier Headquarters, Border Security Force (BSF) Jammu, is organising a two-day Marathon Expo. Jammu BSF Marathon 2025 to be held at the Shaheed Veer Dev Stadium, at Paloura, Jammu on November 9.

12. Nagaland’s Advisor for Social Welfare, Wangpang Konyak has announced plans to establish an Old Age Home in every district of Nagaland. He said this while addressing an Eye camp for Senior Citizens at District Hospital, Mon.

13. The Meteorological Department predicts that this rainy season may continue until this week. According to the Meteorological Department, heavy rain is expected in some areas of Tamil Nadu until November 8th. Light rain accompanied by thunderstorms is also expected in the Jammu region, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand.

3. PM Modi on Friday accused Congress of “removing important stanzas” from the original Vande Mataram while adopting it during party’s 1937 Faizabad session. PM Modi said that the decision not only “broke the song into pieces” but also “sowed the seeds of partition.”

4. National Commission for Women (NCW) organized a conference with Director General of Police and senior police officers in New Delhi. During the meeting, Chairperson of NCW, Vijaya Rahatkar, emphasized on the need for regular Gender Justice Review Meetings to ensure accountability and sensitivity in police functioning.

5. The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has registered an FIR in the Aqil Akhter murder case against four people, including a former Punjab DGP and a former PWD minister of Punjab. According to the CBI, the deceased died under suspicious circumstances last month, and all the accused in this case are his family members.

The body of Ajit Chaudhary, a 22-year-old Indian student from Rajasthan’s Alwar district, has been recovered from a dam near White River in Ufa city, Russia. Ajit, a resident of Kafanwada village in Alwar and was pursuing MBBS course at Bashkir State Medical University in Ufa, had been missing since October 19, when he left his hostel and did not return.

1. The 56th International Film Festival of India (IFFI) is set to be held from the 20th to the 28th of this month in Panaji, Goa.

2. Actor Farhan Akhtar will portray Major Shaitan Singh Bhati, a decorated Indian Army officer, in the upcoming war film 120 Bahadur, which is set to be released on 21 November 2025. The movie is a tribute to the heroic and selfless actions of the 120 soldiers of Charlie Company, 13 Kumaon Regiment, during the 1962 Battle of Rezang La against a much larger Chinese force.

3. Actress and singer Iulia Vantur has recently created history after she performed the Bollywood song “Teri Meri Prem Kahani” from “Bodyguard” at the Vatican’s Paul VI Hall. She became the first Indian to perform a Bollywood song in front of the Pope and other distinguished guests at the Vatican.

1. Indian Navy new ship: The Indian Navy formally commissioned the INS Ikshak into its fleet at the Naval Base in Kochi on Thursday. This is the third vessel of the Survey Vessel (Large) [SVL] class and the first to be based at the Southern Naval Command.

2. The Indian Army has placed an emergency order for over 1,000 kamikaze FPV drones under emergency procurement, with each drone priced below ₹50,000 and fitted with compact high explosive warheads capable of penetrating frontal armor of modern main battle tanks.

3. The Indian Army’s Corps of Electronics and Mechanical Engineers (EME) has launched new drone hubs within the Southern Command dedicated for in-house design, development, and mass production of combat-ready drones.

4. NewSpace Research and Technology’s Abhimanyu carrier-based collaborative combat aircraft for the Indian Navy has reached an advanced stage of development, featuring a 1,000 km combat radius, 25 kg precision warhead, and supporting swarm and manned-unmanned operations with Navy’s Rafale Marine fighters.

5. The air forces of India and US will hold their first joint exercise in southern India featuring the American B-1B Lancer bomber, marking its third visit to India after AeroIndia 2021 and 2023, with the Mach 1.25 capable Lancer training with Rafale, Su-30, and Tejas Mark 1A fighters in long-range and maritime strike drills, with speculation about India potentially exploring limited acquisition or leasing of the bomber for long-range precision strike capability.
