Chennamma of Kittur

🇮🇳 FACTS ABOUT BHARAT 🇮🇳
=======================
Chennamma of Kittur was the Queen of the princely state of Kittur in present-day Karnataka. She led an rebellious armed resistance against the British East India Company, in order to retain control over her dominion. She defeated the British army in the first war, but died as a prisoner after her second rebellion. As one of the first and few female rulers to lead kittur forces against British colonisation, she continues to be remembered as a folk heroine in Karnataka.

After her husband and son passed away, she adopted a boy named Shivalingappa to be the heir to Kittur. The British East India Company refused to recognize the adoption under their Doctrine of Lapse policy and tried to annex Kittur. Rani Chennamma fought bravely against the British forces in 1824, defeating them initially. However, due to betrayal by her own soldiers, she was later captured and imprisoned at Bailhongal fort, where she died in 1829.

🛕 VEDIK GYAN
 There are four Vedas: the Rigveda, the Yajurveda, the Samaveda and the Atharvaveda.

Each Veda has four subdivisions – the Samhitas (mantras and benedictions), the Aranyakas (text on rituals, ceremonies, sacrifices and symbolic-sacrifices), the Brahmanas (commentaries on rituals, ceremonies and sacrifices), and the Upanishads (texts discussing meditation, philosophy and spiritual knowledge).
