Rising hip-hop star Yashraj has teamed up with Indian music heavyweight Badshah for their latest single ‘DAF’, a genre-blending track that dives deep into themes of emotional emptiness, peer pressure, and self-destructive coping mechanisms — all wrapped in a slick, house-infused R&B-pop soundscape.
The track, out now via Universal Music, marks a significant creative leap for Yashraj, who first introduced his disco-inspired style in the acclaimed 2024 EP ‘Meri Jaan Pehle Naach’. With DAF, he returns to that sonic palette with a darker, more introspective twist — making this collaboration both a statement of intent and a nod to his evolving artistic identity.
“I’ve been listening to Badshah since I was 11. To now create a song with him feels surreal,” said Yashraj. “DAF is about living fearlessly — not just on the dancefloor, but in life.”
The track is composed and written by Yashraj and Badshah, with production by Hiten and NEVERSOBER. It balances smooth grooves with emotionally raw lyrics, tapping into the conflict between outward glamor and internal struggle.
Speaking about the collaboration, Badshah said, “Yashraj feels like a younger brother. I’ve watched his growth and admired his honesty and creativity. Working with him on DAF was effortless.”
DAF also acts as a sonic bridge to Meri Jaan Pehle Naach, reinforcing Yashraj’s distinctive blend of retro influences and modern storytelling. The artist has previously worked with notable names like Raftaar, KR$NA, Hanumankind, Calm (Seedhe Maut), and Karan Kanchan, steadily carving out a niche as one of the most innovative voices in Indian hip-hop.
Yashraj’s past singles, including Dhundhala, Hausla, and DLL, have drawn global attention, with Dhundhala alone crossing 100 million streams. He has also featured on KSHMR’s KARAM album and contributed to the soundtrack of Kho Gaye Hum Kahan with the hit track Ishq Nachaawe.
From underground hip-hop to stage performances with artists like JID and G-Eazy, Yashraj continues to break boundaries — and DAF is his latest bold step forward.
