1. The President of India, Smt Droupadi Murmu, will visit Kerala from October 21 to 24, 2025.
On October 22, the President will perform Darshan and Aarti at the Sabarimala Temple.

On October 23, the President will unveil the bust of former President of India, Shri K.R. Narayanan at Raj Bhavan,Thiruvananthapuram. Later, she will inaugurate the observance of the Mahasamadhi Centenary of Sree Narayana Guru at Sivagiri Mutt, Varkala.

On October 24, the President will grace the centenary celebrations of St. Teresa’s College, Ernakulam.

2. The scrutiny of nomination papers for the second and final phase of the Bihar Assembly elections was completed yesterday for 122 assembly constituencies. During the process, the nomination paper of the Vikassheel Insaan Party (VIP) candidate from the Sugauli Assembly constituency in East Champaran district was rejected due to an insufficient number of proposers. This has come as a major setback for the Grand Alliance. From the NDA, the Lok Janshakti Party (Ramvilas) has fielded Rajesh Kumar, alias Bablu Gupta, from the same constituency.

3. Election Commission has said that citizens and political parties can now use the C-Vigil App on ECINET platform to lodge complaints related to violations of Model Code of Conduct.

4. Nagaland University researchers have identified a naturally-occurring plant compound called ‘Sinapic acid’ as a powerful therapeutic agent capable of significantly accelerating wound healing in diabetic conditions.

7. In Telangana, The Nizam Sagar irrigation project, built in 1931, has received its second-highest inflow in five decades due to intense monsoon rains in the Manjeera basin. With 291 TMCft recorded so far, the reservoir continues to receive water, largely from the upstream Singur project, which also broke its own inflow record this year.

8. The Government of India has granted Adani Power Limited (APL) approval to connect its 1,600 MW Godda Ultra Super Critical Thermal Power Plant in Jharkhand to the national power grid via a “Line‑In Line‑Out” (LILO) arrangement of the Kahalgaon A–Maithon B 400 kV line.

9. Andhrapradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Tuesday reiterated the government’s strong commitment to women’s empowerment and economic advancement.

CM Naidu launched the MEPMA Mana Mitra mobile app designed to provide eight key services to its target groups. He also unveiled the mission’s annual magazine Avaani and the Pragnya virtual training app for women self-help groups.

10. Day after Diwali, Delhi records worst air quality in 5 years: According to an analysis of Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) data covering the period from 2021 to 2025, PM2.5 values in Delhi consistently spiked during Diwali night and early the next morning, with the 2025 post-Diwali reading of 488 micrograms per cubic metre being the most polluted period since 2021.

11. Schools and colleges in Puducherry and Karaikal will remain closed tomorrow, 22 October, due to warnings of heavy rainfall in the region.

12. India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a red colour warning for heavy to very heavy rainfall over Kerala, Mahe, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal during the next two days. The weather agency also forecasts heavy to very heavy rainfall over Andhra Pradesh, Coastal Karnataka and South Interior Karnataka.
