India’s first woman Deputy Chief of Protocol and now Ambassador to Japan? Nagma Mohamed Mallick, a 1991-batch Indian Foreign Service officer, has been appointed as the next Ambassador of India to Japan. Mallick is presently posted as Ambassador to the Republic of Poland.

2. The 11th edition of the India International Science Festival (IISF) will be held in Chandigarh in December. The four-day event will begin on 6th December and continue till 9th. The theme for IISF-2025 will be Vigyan se Samruddhi: For Atma Nirbhar Bharat.

3. External Affairs Minister Dr S Jaishankar today met Vice President of Brazil Geraldo Alckmin in New Delhi. They discussed the potential for greater cooperation in trade, investment, energy, connectivity, health and technology.

4. Prime Minister of Sri Lanka Dr. Harini Nireka Amarasuriya has praised NITI Aayog for its pivotal role as a policy think tank. Dr. Amarasuriya visited NITI Aayog in New Delhi.

Pakistan Violates Ceasefire with Airstrike in Afghanistan, Killing 10 Including Three Local Cricketers: Hours after Pakistan and Afghanistan mutually agreed to extend their 48-hour ceasefire, the Taliban said that Islamabad carried out airstrikes in several districts of Paktika province, which lies along the Durand Line. Following Pakistani airstrikes, a senior Taliban official said that the truce between the two sides have been “broken.

The strikes came on a day when a Pakistani delegation had already arrived in Doha, Qatar’s capital, while the Afghan delegation was expected to join them on Saturday.

3. Mongolian lawmakers voted to remove the Prime Minister and Parliament speaker yesterday, throwing the resource-rich nation into renewed political turmoil. Mr Zandanshatar Gombojav stepped down as Prime Minister after losing the confidence vote just four months after taking office.

The Chief Prosecutor of Bangladesh’s International Crimes Tribunal (ICT) has sought the death penalty for former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and former Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal in a case related to alleged crimes against humanity during the July Movement. Chief Prosecutor Tajul Islam made the plea yesterday before the three-member ICT-1 bench, headed by Justice Md Golam Mortuza Majumder, after completing five days of law-point arguments on behalf of the prosecution.
