New Delhi: Lady Shri Ram College for Women successfully hosted its Annual Run 2025–26 on 14th October, witnessing an impressive turnout and enthusiastic participation from students, faculty, alumnae, staff, and volunteers. The 3 km run, themed “Beat the Heat, Save the Earth,” aimed to raise awareness about climate change while encouraging a healthy and active lifestyle. The event was organized by the Department of Physical Education & Sports and celebrated the collective spirit of fitness, sustainability, and community engagement.
Flag-Off by Esteemed Guests
The run was flagged off by Ms. Manjusha Kanwar, Ex-International Badminton Player and Head of Sports Cell, IndianOil Corporation Ltd., New Delhi, along with Guest of Honour Ms. Tanushri Roy, LSR Alumna (Batch of 2016, Sociology), Faculty Prize and Best All-Rounder Award Recipient, Lawyer & Policy Expert, NITI Aayog, Government of India. The event was also graced by Prof. Ahuja (Acting Principal) and Prof. (Dr.) Meenakshi Pahuja, Head, Department of Physical Education & Sports.
Ms. Kanwar praised the initiative, emphasizing how sports can drive both physical excellence and social transformation. Ms. Roy motivated students to extend LSR’s legacy of leadership toward global issues such as climate sustainability and resilience.
Event Highlights
The run saw a large number of students participating in the 3 km environmental awareness event. The Top 20 runners were recognized for their outstanding performance. Throughout the run, students carried placards advocating ecological responsibility, including messages about conserving water, reducing heat, and protecting green spaces. Volunteers played a crucial role in maintaining discipline and coordination, ensuring a smooth and successful event.

The Annual Run stood as a symbolic stride against the climate crisis, motivating students to embrace an active lifestyle while supporting sustainable practices. The event reinforced the idea that collective action, even in small steps, can make a meaningful contribution toward a greener and cooler planet.
Sharing her thoughts, Prof. (Dr.) Meenakshi Pahuja remarked, “Through this run, we hope to inspire conscious citizens who care not just for personal fitness, but for the fitness of the Earth. Every step taken today was a pledge to protect our environment.”

The run concluded with an award ceremony recognizing top performers.
🥇 Purnima Kaushik (1st Year, English Department) emerged as the winner.
🥈 Vedika Gulia (2nd Year, Political Science Department) secured the second position.
🥉 Palak Shivani (3rd Year, Commerce Department) bagged the third position.
