1. President Droupadi Murmu conferred this year’s Pradhan Mantri Rashtriya Bal Puraskar at Vigyan Bhawan in New Delhi. 11 Children Receive PM Rashtriya Bal Puraskar, 2023.
There were six boys and five girls among the awardees from 11 states and Union territories. Each awardee was given a medal, a cash prize of ₹ 1 lakh and a certificate.

2. PM Modi interacted with youngsters who were selected under the ‘Know Your Leader’ programme to participate in the ceremony to honour Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose in the Central Hall of Parliament.

What is SC ST entrepreneurship?
Under the ‘Chief Minister Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes Entrepreneurship Development’ scheme, educated unemployed youths of the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes community are trained in basic skills of entrepreneurship. In the said scheme, an entrepreneur is given an interest-free loan of 5 lakhs.

8. The three day long Monastic festival of Monpa tribe of Tawang celebrated at Tawang Monastery. The festival was celebrated from 20 to 22 January 2023.

Torgya festival is celebrated to pay homage to Lama Tsongkhapa and chase away evil spirits that ushers in diseases, misfortunes and natural calamities.

9. BJP spokesperson Gaurav Bhatia said that, the Country will not tolerate anyone speaking against India’s security forces.

The BJP came down heavily on Congress following its leader Digvijay Singh’s comment that the Government did not give any proof of the 2016 surgical strike carried out by India along the LoC with Pakistan.

10. CM Eknath Shinde announced that a greenfield expressway will be developed between Mumbai and Goa on the lines of the recently inaugurated Samruddhi Corridor.

Already, the union government is developing the Mumbai – Goa highway into four lanes as part of the larger 1,622-km-long economic corridor between Mumbai and Kanyakumari.

11. Students Allowed To Wear Hijab, but not Burqa: After protests broke out in Hindu College in Uttar Pradesh’s Moradabad over a ban on entry of students wearing burqa, the college authorities have clarified that the ban is on burqa alone, while hijabs are allowed.

12. Congress leader Rahul Gandhi said the party will use its “full power” to reinstate statehood in Jammu and Kashmir.

CRIME REPORT

1. Youth Affairs and Sports Ministry has formed an Oversight Committee to enquire into the allegations of sexual misconduct, harassment and financial irregularities in the Wrestling Federation of India.

2. A special court in Jammu “closed” banned JKLF chief Yasin Malik’s right to cross-examine a prime witness in a 1990 case related to the killing of four IAF personnel after he refused to do so through video conference.

Malik, who is in Delhi’s Tihar Jail after being convicted in a terror funding case, has been demanding that he be allowed to cross-examine witnesses physically in the Jammu court. He was present in the court virtually.

3. Gujarat High Court denied bail to TMC spokesperson Saket Gokhale in a case of alleged misuse of money raised through crowdfunding. Gokhale reportedly collected over ₹70 lakh from over 1,700 people using a crowdfunding portal and used it for personal purposes.

1. The Reserve Bank of India has extended the deadline for renewal of agreements for the existing safe deposit lockers in a phased manner by the 31st of December 2023.

2. Telangana: Revenue from stamp duty and registration to cross Rs 15,000 crore. According to officials, the total revenue during the last fiscal year stood at Rs.12,364 crore, whereas, during the current year it has already crossed Rs.9,531 crore.

3. RBI said the sovereign green bonds to be issued by the Centre will not have any restrictions on foreign investment. The central bank announced a fully accessible route for investments by non-residents in the sovereign green bonds. Sovereign green bonds worth ₹16,000 crore will be issued in two tranches, with the first half to be issued on January 25.

4. Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) has asked B2B payments and services provider PayMate India to refile documents for its ₹1,500 crore-initial public offering (IPO) with certain updates. PayMate India filed the Draft Red Herring Prospectus in May 2022.

5. Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) has announced that Manasi Tata, the daughter of late Vikram Kirloskar will take over as the company’s new Vice Chairperson with immediate effect, after the untimely demise of her father in November last year.
