1. India will host the 8th International Solar Alliance (ISA) Assembly from October 27–30 at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi, bringing together 124 member countries and over 40 ministers to advance global cooperation on solar energy adoption. Minister of New and Renewable Energy, Pralhad Joshi, highlighted India’s achievements as the 3rd largest solar producer and the 2nd largest renewable energy market globally.

2. PM Modi addresses Global Fintech Fest in Mumbai; Says, India is among most technologically inclusive societies in the world.

3. UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer expresses confidence that Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement with India will drive growth and create job opportunities.

4. California has officially declared Diwali a state holiday, becoming the third US state after Pennsylvania and Connecticut to do so. Governor Gavin Newsom signed the bill, introduced by Assembly member Ash Kalra.

5. The Union Finance Minister recently launched the Foreign Currency Settlement System (FCSS) at Gujarat International Finance Tec-City (GIFT City) in October 2025. This new system enables real-time settlement of foreign currency transactions within GIFT City. It marks leap from the previous 36-48 hour delays under correspondent banking.

6. Foreign Minister of Afghanistan Mawlawi Amir Khan Muttaqi reached New Delhi yesterday on a weeklong visit to India. External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said in a social media post that the Indian side is looking forward to discussions with him on bilateral relations and regional issues. This is the first ministerial-level visit to India since the Taliban took control in Afghanistan in August 2021.

1. Hungarian author László Krasznahorkai has won the 2025 Nobel Prize in Literature for his visionary and apocalyptic prose, celebrating the enduring power of art. This honor highlights his literary genius and cements his place on the global literary stage.

2. The European Union has launched its new Entry/Exit System (EES) from Sunday, marking change in border management for all non-EU travellers, including British visitors.

3. Russia’s lower house of parliament approved a move to withdraw from a landmark agreement with the United States aimed at reducing vast stockpiles of weapons-grade plutonium left over from thousands of Cold War nuclear warheads.

4. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has congratulated Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and US President Donald Trump on the success of the historic Gaza peace plan.

5. Russian President Vladimir Putin has admitted his country’s role in Azerbaijani passenger jet crash, that killed 38 people on 25th December 2024. Mr. Putin has told his Azerbaijani counterpart that Moscow will compensate Azerbaijan for its part in accidentally downing an Azerbaijani passenger plane last year, which had damaged relations between the two countries.

6. Violent clashes between the law enforcement officials and members of a radical Islamist party left dozens injured yesterday in Lahore, Pakistan over the issue of an anti-Israel protest. Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan has called for an anti-Israel demonstration outside the US embassy in Islamabad.

In Pakistan, at least seven terrorists affiliated with the banned terror group Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan were killed in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province. Pakistani Army Major was also killed during the operation yesterday.
