1. The Election Commission of India announced the Election schedule for the Bihar Assembly. Assembly Elections in Bihar to be held in two phases on 6th and 11th November; Counting of votes on 14th November. In the first phase, the voting will be held on 121 Assembly seats while in the second phase, 122 constituencies will go to polls.
2. Bihar CM Nitish Kumar on Monday transferred Rs 2,100 crore directly into the bank accounts of 21 lakh women beneficiaries under “Mukhyamantri Mahila Rozgar Yojana” (MMRY) to start businesses of their own choice.
3. The Election Commission also announces By-election for eight assembly seats in seven states on 11th November.
4. India may get its first underwater road tunnel under a major river in the coming years. The new road tunnel project planned under the Brahmaputra river is awaiting a nod from the Union Cabinet. The tunnel holds strategic significance due to its proximity to Arunachal Pradesh, which borders China. The construction is expected to take five years to complete.
5. Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has waived charges for Aadhaar biometric updates for children aged up to 5 to 17 years. Aadhaar enrollment for children under the age of five requires only basic demographic details, including name, photograph, date of birth, gender, and address. Biometrics like fingerprints or iris scans are not captured due to developmental factors.
6. The Telangana government has announced a fare hike on city bus services in Hyderabad, effective October 6, with increases ranging from Rs 5 to Rs 10. The revision aligns with its plan to deploy 2,800 electric buses by 2027 and reduce pollution within the Outer Ring Road.
7. Pulicat Lake, the second largest brackish water lagoon in India, is currently facing severe ecological and economic challenges. The estuary connecting the lake to the sea is blocked by sand, disrupting the natural flow of seawater.
8. The Baratang mud volcano in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands erupted violently on 2 October 2025. This eruption ended over twenty years of dormancy. The event was marked by a loud explosion-like sound and the emergence of mud and smoke. Authorities quickly sealed off the area to ensure public safety. The eruption has created a mound about 3-4 metres high and spread muddy soil over 1,000 square metres. The Geological department has been informed for further study.
9. The Kaleshwaram irrigation project barrages are set for extensive repairs following a detailed safety review. After two years of controversy and political debate, the government has decided to act on the recommendations of the National Dam Safety Authority (NDSA). Rehabilitation and restoration of the Medigadda, Annaram, and Sundilla barrages will be undertaken by reputed design agencies.
10. Union Environment Minister Shri Bhupender Yadav inaugurated Rajasthan’s first ‘Namo Biodiversity Park’, also called NAMO VAN, in Alwar on 5 October 2025.
11. Cyclone Shakti, a Severe Cyclonic Storm that formed over the east-central Arabian Sea in October 2025, exemplifies the rising trend of intense cyclones in the region due to climate change and warming ocean temperatures.
Named “Shakti” by Sri Lanka under WMO guidelines, it developed under conditions like warm sea surface temperatures, low wind shear, and Coriolis force.
12. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast heavy to very heavy rainfall at isolated places over Jammu and Kashmir, Uttarakhand, Punjab, Haryana, and Delhi NCR today.
13. PM SETU Scheme, launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on 4 October 2025, aims to upgrade 1,000 ITI institutes across India, including Bihar, with a massive ₹60,000 crore investment.

The Viksit Bharat Buildathon 2025, launched by the Ministry of Education in collaboration with AIM, AICTE, and NITI Aayog, is a nationwide innovation initiative engaging over 1 crore students from Classes 6–12 to promote creativity, problem-solving, and entrepreneurial thinking. 1. In West Bengal, BJP MLA Sankar Ghosh and party MP from Malda North Khagen Murmu were brutally attacked yesterday by hundreds of miscreants at Nagrakata in Jalpaiguri. They were travelling to reach out to the flood-affected people when their car was targeted with stones and bricks. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has strongly condemned the attack.
2. Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday reacted to a shoe being hurled at Chief Justice of India (CJI) BR Gavai in the Supreme Court, saying that the incident “has angered every Indian”. The attack came over the CJI’s recent remarks in a case about placing a an old idol in the Hindu temple complex at Khajuraho in Madhya Pradesh.
The lawyer, identified as 71-year-old Rakesh Kishore, approached the dais, removed his shoe, and tried to throw it towards the judge. However, the security personnel immediately intervened and escorted him out of the court premises, preventing the attack.
3. The Supreme Court on Monday (October 6, 2025) orally asked the Union government to consider sharing the grounds of preventive detention of climate activist Sonam Wangchuk with his wife, Dr. Gitanjali Angmo, even as the Centre said her habeas corpus plea was simply a ruse to create an “emotive atmosphere”.
Mr. Wangchuk was detained under the National Security Act (NSA), 1980, following violent protests on September 24 in Leh. Ms. Angmo had asked the apex court to direct the detaining authorities to produce Mr. Wangchuk in court. She submitted that it had been 10 days since Mr. Wangchuk was reported to be detained at Jodhpur in Rajasthan on September 26.
4. Private colleges in Telangana will remain shut from October 13, stated the Telangana Private Degree and PG College Managements Association, demanding the release of pending fee reimbursement dues from the state government.
5. Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta made an ‘allow green firecrackers or Diwali will feel incomplete’ appeal to the Supreme Court Monday ahead of a formal hearing Wednesday.
“Diwali is a festival of joy. Without fireworks, feels incomplete. At least green crackers should be permitted in Delhi,” she said, stressing her government’s appeal for fireworks during the Diwali season.
6. The Supreme Court declined on Monday (October 6, 2025) to entertain a petition challenging a Telangana government order enhancing the Backward Classes’ quota in municipalities and panchayats to 42%, leading to the total reservation of seats in local bodies in the State to touch 67%.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh’s Australia Visit: India Australia to Sign 3 Key Defence Cooperation Agreements: Defense Minister Rajnath Singh will visit Australia on October 9 during which the two countries will sign three defense cooperation pacts on joint activities, maritime security, and information sharing.
3. The Indian Navy has commissioned INS Androth, the second Anti-Submarine Warfare Shallow Water Craft built with over 80% indigenous content. It was Commissioned on 6 October 2025 at Naval Dockyard, Visakhapatnam. Ceremony led by Vice Admiral Rajesh Pendharkar.
4. India Australia to hold joint military exercise AUSTRA HIND 2025 during October 13-26: The fourth edition of India and Australia bilateral military exercise Austra Hind 2025 will be held from October 13 in Australia.
5. India and the UK have begun the 8-day exercise Konkan in the western Indian Ocean featuring Indian Navy’s INS Vikrant aircraft carrier and Royal Navy’s HMS Prince of Wales aircraft carrier. Schedule: 5 to 12 October 2025.
