1. Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal met Prime Minister of Singapore Lawrence Wong and discussed on strengthening trade and investment linkages, enhancing cooperation in innovation and digital connectivity.

2. The United Nations Security Council has approved travel ban exemptions for Amir Khan Muttaqi, the Foreign Minister of Afghanistan, to visit India from October 9 to 16. Under a Security Council resolution, certain individuals linked to the Taliban are subject to travel bans. However, the resolution allows the Council to grant exemptions for official duties or medical exemptions. This marks the first high-level visit by a Taliban leader to New Delhi since the group took power in Afghanistan in 2021.

3. Union Labour and Employment Minister Dr Mansukh Mandaviya interacted with members of the Indian workers’ diaspora in Malaysia. Ministry of Labour and Employment said that the minister underlined the contribution of the members in strengthening India’s development journey and highlighted the pivotal role of the Indian community abroad in realising the vision of Viksit Bharat@2047.

4. Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates lauded India as a global leader in innovation, noting that its pioneering solutions have the potential to benefit millions of lives across the Global South.
Addressing the event organised by the Indian Consulate General in Seattle in partnership with the Gates Foundation, Mr Gates expressed hope to continue partnering with India on its journey towards Viksit Bharat 2047.

5. India has condemned the terror attack on the Heaton Park Synagogue in Manchester, UK, during Yom Kippur services. In a statement, the Ministry of External Affairs expressed solidarity with the people of the United Kingdom in this moment of grief. The Ministry also conveyed its sadness that this heinous act committed on the International Day of Non-Violence.
