1. Curfew remained in force in this town for the fifth consecutive day on Sunday (September 28, 2025), with Lt Governor Kavinder Gupta set to hold a security review meeting to take a call on the relaxation in the restrictions.
2. A court in New Delhi on Saturday allowed the bail plea of Gaganpreet Kaur, the key accused in the BMW accident case. Kaur, 38, is accused of behind the wheel of the BMW car that rammed into a two-wheeler being ridden by senior finance ministry official. Navjot Singh, 52, died while his wife was grievously injured in the incident.
3. Tensions escalated in Barabanki and Mau districts as protests over the ‘I Love Muhammad’ campaign turned violent in Bareilly with police carrying out overnight house-to-house raids to nab the culprits and arresting a prominent cleric.
The police have arrested the cleric, Tauqeer Raza Khan, who is the chief of Ittehad-e-Millat Council, and seven others after there was a violent clash between the police and people who protested against the police action against those who carried “I Love Muhammed” posters during an Eid-e-Milad-un-Nabi procession in Kanpur on September 4.
4. A Maoist ‘ordnance factory’ engaged in manufacturing weapons and explosives to target security forces has been destroyed in Chhattisgarh’s Sukma district.
5. In Chhattisgarh, three Maoists, including a woman, were killed in an encounter with security forces in the forests of Tiriyarpani in Kanker district.
6. The Tamil Nadu government has constituted a one-member commission of inquiry headed by former High Court Judge Justice Aruna Jagadeesan to investigate the tragic stampede incident at a political rally in Karur which claimed 40 lives and left over 80 people injured.
7. PM Modi has announced an ex-gratia payment of 2 lakh rupees each to the next of kin of the deceased from the Prime Minister’s National Relief Fund. An amount of 50,000 rupees will be provided to each of the injured.
8. A Babbar Khalsa International terrorist, involved in multiple heinous crimes, has been extradited from the UAE, said a top Punjab Police officer on Saturday.
Parminder Singh alias Pindi, a close aide of foreign-based terrorists Harwinder Singh alias Rinda and Happy Passia, has been brought from Abu Dhabi in the UAE in close coordination with the central agencies.

1. The MiG-21, inducted into the Indian Air Force (IAF) in the early 1960s, was officially decommissioned after serving for more than six decades. Despite being unfairly branded with terms like “flying coffin” and “widow-maker,” newly presented data confirms it was one of the safest fighters in the IAF’s inventory. The fighter was phased out not because of safety issues, but because its technical life had come to an end.
2. The Indian Navy has achieved a historic milestone in submarine rescue operations, successfully demonstrating its growing undersea intervention capabilities during Exercise Prasthan-25 (XPR-25) in the South China Sea.
3. The Indian Army has issued a major tender worth ₹30,000 crore to acquire the indigenous ‘Anant Shastra’ air defence missile systems from Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL). This procurement represents a significant step in strengthening the Army’s air defence capabilities and reducing reliance on imported systems.

INS Jalashwa – The Indian Navy’s Multi-Role Support Vessel (MRSV) Program, also referred to as Landing Platform Docks (LPD) procurement, is a major initiative to acquire amphibious warfare vessels designed to enhance the Navy’s capabilities in amphibious warfare, disaster response, humanitarian assistance, and auxiliary roles.
