1. India announces 100 million Maldivian Rufiyaa for community development projects in Maldives. External Affairs Minister Dr. S Jaishankar arrived in Maldives on Wednesday as part of his three-day visit to Maldives and Sri Lanka.

2. Union Minister of Education Dharmendra Pradhan on Wednesday met a delegation of Nanyang Technological University, Singapore led by First Secretary, Singapore High Commission Amanda Kwek.

3. Minister of State for External Affairs V. Muraleedharan will be on a three-day visit to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) from Thursday.

5. India has surpassed China to become the most populous country in the world: According to projections from the World Population Review (WPR), India’s population was 141.7 crore as of the end of 2022. That’s 50 lakh more than the 141.2 crore declared by China on January 17.

6. The India-Bangladesh Friendship pipeline (IBFPL) will start supplying diesel to Bangladesh on an experimental basis for June this year.

1. Ukrainian Interior Minister, 15 others killed in helicopter crash near capital Kyiv. At least 16 people, including Ukrainian Interior Minister Denys Monastyrsky have died in a helicopter crash near a kindergarten outside the capital Kyiv. Police said, 22 victims are also in hospital, including 10 children.

2. Prime Minister of Nepal Pushpa Kamal Dahal on Wednesday expanded the Cabinet, inducting 15 more ministers from partners of the seven-party alliance.

4. A US lawmaker Andy Biggs has introduced a bill in the US House of Representatives that seeks to terminate Pakistan’s designation as a major non-NATO ally.

The bill wants a certification from the US President that Pakistan actively coordinates with Afghanistan to restrict the movement of militants, such as the Haqqani Network, along the Afghanistan-Pakistan border.

5. Sri Lanka’s Cabinet has approved the proposal of President Ranil Wickremasinghe to provide 10 kilograms of rice per month to 2 million low-income families.

6. The world’s oldest person, French nun Lucile Randon, has died aged 118. Ms. Randon – who assumed the name Sister André when she took holy orders in 1944 – died in her sleep at her nursing home in Toulon, France.

7. The National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) announced that the James Webb Space Telescope has discovered its first new exoplanet. Researchers have labelled the planet as LHS 475 b, and it’s roughly the same size as Earth.
