4. Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has approved the recommencement of helicopter operations for the Char Dham Yatra 2025 after the monsoon break.
5. Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Hardeep Singh Puri has said that India’s energy future is being secured by the Narendra Modi government through a variety of actions. Speaking at an event in New Delhi, Mr Puri said that exploration and production of oil and natural gas is being boosted up and fossil fuel dependence will also come down by using 20 per cent blending of biofuels.
6. Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has successfully conducted a pilot programme to test AI-enabled facial authentication technology for swift and secure candidate verification during various examinations. The pilot programme was conducted during the NDA and NA II EXAMINATION and CDS II EXAMINATION, held on the 14th of this month.
7. The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) has launched the National Geothermal Energy Policy to unify stakeholders and harness India’s estimated 10 GW geothermal potential across identified provinces like the Himalayas, Cambay Basin, and Godavari Basin.
8. Statue of Chhatrapati Shivaji Honoured at Pimpri‑Chinchwad, Pune
Pimpri-Chinchwad will host Maharashtra’s largest Dhol-Tasha ceremony with 3,000 dhols, 1,000 tashas, and 500 saffron flags to honor the nearing completion of the 180-foot Statue of Hindubhushan, a monument dedicated to Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj. A shastra pooja (weapon worship) of the statue’s sword will follow on 2 October 2025.
9. The Department of Posts (DoP) and Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) signed a MoU on September 17, 2025, to enable BSNL SIM card sales and mobile recharge services at over 1.65 lakh Post Offices across India.
This strategic collaboration aims to expand mobile connectivity, especially in rural and remote areas, supporting the goals of Digital India and financial inclusion.
10. The members of the Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) can now easily access all its key services through a single login on the member portal. Labour and Employment Minister Mansukh Mandaviya said that the initiative is expected to reduce grievances, improve transparency, and enhance member satisfaction.
11. The Government of India has begun the process to nominate Chhath Mahaparva for inclusion in UNESCO’s Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. This move aims to recognise the festival’s cultural importance and ensure its preservation globally.
12. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast heavy to very heavy rainfall over the Eastern and Central parts of the country for the next two days.
The weather department also forecast thunderstorms accompanied by lightning over Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Chhattisgarh, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Jammu, Jharkhand, Odisha, Tamil Nadu and Northeastern states for the next three to four days.

1. The government has refuted claims of a notice purportedly issued in the name of BSNL, claiming that SIM KYC of customers have been suspended by the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India and that their SIM cards will be blocked within 24 hours.
2. Union Electronics and IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw today said that the new rules governing online gaming are set to come into effect from the first of next month.
3. The Election Commission (EC) has revamped the EVM Ballot Paper design to improve clarity and readability.
New guidelines include color photographs of candidates with faces occupying three-fourths of the photo space for better visibility, and uniform font type for candidate names and NOTA.
4. Recent protests by the Ho tribe in Jharkhand’s West Singhbhum district have brought into light tensions between indigenous governance and state administration. The community fears interference in their traditional Manki-Munda system after rumours spread about the removal of village heads known as Mundas. The Manki-Munda system is a traditional governance structure of the Ho tribe in Jharkhand’s Kolhan region.

In Uttarakhand, heavy damage has been reported in the Nandanagar region of Chamoli district, following a cloudburst and torrential rains late last night. Fourteen people were reportedly missing in the disaster, and three bodies have been recovered so far. Our correspondent reports that search and rescue operations are underway on a war footing at the site.

1. The Indian Navy has formally extended its support to the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) for the development of a next-generation High-Altitude Long-Endurance (HALE) Unmanned Aerial Vehicle. The indigenous project, propelled by a jet engine, is positioned as a strategic asset for persistent maritime surveillance, reconnaissance, and anti-submarine warfare (ASW) roles in the Indian Ocean Region.
2. The Government of India has announced a significant customs duty exemption on 18 categories of defence-related imports, effective September 22, 2025. The move, issued under the Customs Act, 1962 and Customs Tariff Act, 1975, aligns with the GST Council’s September 3 approval of a broader tax restructuring dubbed “GST 2.0.
3. The Indian Army has drawn up an ambitious plan to set up 19 state-of-the-art drone training hubs at major training academies and institutions across the country. The move follows Operation Sindoor, which reinforced the central role of drones as standard battlefield assets.
4. Rourkela-based defence start-up Coratia Technologies has won a ₹66 Crores contract from the Indian Navy for the supply of indigenous Underwater Remotely Operated Vehicles (UWROVs).

The Indian Army achieved a significant milestone with the successful pilot overhaul of the Armoured Recovery Vehicle (ARV) VT-72B at the 512 Army Base Workshop in Pune under Project Lotus.The VT-72B ARV, derived from the T-72B tank platform, is vital for recovering and repairing frontline tanks and armoured fighting vehicles, ensuring their combat readiness across diverse terrains.
6. India’s armed forces have announced two landmark decisions at the Combined Commanders’ Conference (CCC-2025) in Kolkata, underscoring the government’s Year of Reforms agenda. The first is the creation of three joint military stations, billed as a critical step towards accelerating jointness and paving the way for eventual theatre commands.
Parallel to this, the three services agreed to merge their education wings under a Tri-Services Education Corps, a structural reform designed to standardise training, curricula, and professional military education across the armed forces.
