The Election Commission has revised the existing guidelines under the conduct of elections rules, for the design and printing of EVM Ballot Papers to enhance their clarity and readability. From now on the photographs of candidates will be printed in colour occupying three-fourth of the photo space for better visibility. To ensure uniformity, the names of all candidates and NOTA will be printed in the same font type for easy readability.

1. Punjab National Bank (PNB) has extended Shri M. Paramasivam’s tenure as Executive Director until his superannuation on 31 March 2027, or until further orders.
2. India’s trade deficit narrowed to $26.49 billion in August, down from $27.35 billion in July, as both exports and imports declined following steep US tariffs under President Donald Trump.
Exports fell to $35.1 billion and imports to $61.59 billion. Shipments to the US dropped sharply to $6.86 billion, affected by 50% duties imposed over India’s continued Russian oil imports.
3. India’s unemployment rate dropped to 5.1% in August 2025, continuing a downward trend from 5.6% in June and 5.2% in July, according to the Periodic Labour Force Survey (PLFS) by MoSPI.

1. Indian Navy’s indigenously designed and constructed Diving Support Vessel (DSV) INS Nistar is participating in the multinational Exercise Pacific Reach 2025 in Singapore.
2. The First Training Squadron (1TS) of the Indian Navy comprising INS Tir, INS Shardul, INS Sujata, and ICGS Sarathi entered Maputo, Mozambique on 16 Sep 2025.
The squadron led by Capt Tijo K Joseph was warmly received by the Mozambique Navy alongwith the Defence Advisor in Maputo. The visit of 1TS ships to Mozambique marks a special occasion as the two nations celebrate 50 years of diplomatic relations (1975-2025).
3. A high-level United States defence delegation has arrived in New Delhi to hold meetings on major defence procurements, including the finalisation of a $4 billion deal for six additional P-8I maritime patrol aircraft for the Indian Navy. The delegation is in India between September 16 and 19 for negotiations.
4. The Indian Air Force (IAF) is reviewing a ₹2 lakh crore proposal to acquire 114 Made-in-India Rafale fighter jets, aiming to boost the fleet to 176 jets. This plan emphasizes 60% local content under the ‘Made in India’ framework, with Dassault Aviation partnering Indian aerospace firms like Tata.
