The International Cricket Council has officially rejected the Pakistan Cricket Board’s demand to replace match referee Andy Pycroft following the controversial conclusion of the India-Pakistan group stage match at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium. India won the game by seven wickets, but the focus quickly shifted from cricket to an escalating diplomatic spat over a post-match gesture. The controversy began when Indian players Suryakumar Yadav and Shivam Dube walked off the field without shaking hands with the Pakistani team.

5. India created history at the Speed Skating World Championships as Anandkumar Velkumar won the country’s first-ever gold in the senior men’s 1000m event, clocking 1:24.924 in China. He followed up his earlier bronze in the 500m sprint, making him India’s first senior World Champion in the sport.
