1. An earthquake of 5.9 magnitude occurred at Hindukush region of Afghanistan at 7:55 pm on Thursday. The tremors were felt in Delhi and other parts of North India.

1. Police busted an inter-state gang and arrested five persons involved in the theft of oil from the underground pipeline of Indian Oil Corporation in Haryana’s Kurukshetra.

2. Delhi Police have informed the High Court that no criminality was found regarding a tweet that Alt News Co-founder Mohammed Zubair posted in August 2020.

Zubair was booked under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act for sharing the profile picture of a user named Jagdish Singh with his granddaughter.

3. CBI has booked Housing Development and Infrastructure Limited (HDIL) promoters Rakesh and Sarang Wadhawan in a new bank fraud case involving an amount of ₹140 crore in connection with their subsidiary Guruashish Construction.

1. Govt approves continuation of schemes worth around Rs 13,000 crore for development of north-eastern region till 2025-26.

DEFENCE

1. Lt Gen Upendra Dwivedi GOC-in-C Northern Command visited the state of the Art Agniveer training facility located at Jammu and Kashmir Light Infantry Regimental Centre, Dansal (District Jammu) to review the preparedness and arrangements for the first batch of Agniveers.

2. Addressing the officer trainees of MES at Rashtrapati Bhavan, President Droupadi Murmu has asked the Military Engineer Services (MES) officers to make use of cutting-edge technologies including machine learning and artificial intelligence in their future projects.

3. The indigenously developed Quick Reaction Surface to Air Missile Weapon System (QRSAM) of Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) will be inducted in Indian Armed Forces soon.

4. With an aim to carry out logistic operations in the Himalayan frontier, an Untethered Multi-copter payload, an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV), has been developed by the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO). The UAV is capable of flying in the Himalayan environment with 5 kg of payload and even dropping bombs in the enemy areas.

5. The Chandrayaan-3 mission will tentatively be launched between June and July 2023. The mission will only be carrying a Lunar lander and rover, unlike its predecessor which carried an orbiter, lander and rover.
