1. India’s free trade agreement (FTA) with the European Free Trade Association (EFTA) — comprising Switzerland, Norway, Iceland, and Liechtenstein — will come into effect on October 1, 2025, and marks a first-of-its-kind deal with legally binding sustainability clauses.

2. PM Modi held a joint telephone call with the President of the European Council, Antonio Costa and the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen. The leaders emphasized the role of the India-EU Strategic Partnership in jointly addressing global issues.

3. PM Modi held wide-ranging and productive talks with his Singaporean counterpart Lawrence Wong in New Delhi. Five MoUs were concluded in important fields, including cooperation on a green and digital shipping corridor, promoting collaboration in the space sector, cooperation in training and R&D in the field of civil aviation, and cooperation in digital asset innovation.

4. Singapore Prime Minister Lawrence Wong called on President Droupadi Murmu at Rashtrapati Bhavan. President Murmu said that this year is of special significance, as it marks the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries.

5. External Affairs Minister Dr S Jaishankar inaugurated the SAMHiTA Conference on South Asia’s Manuscript Traditions and Mathematical Contributions in New Delhi.

6. SEMICON India 2025, which showcased India’s Rising Role in the Global Semiconductor Ecosystem, has been concluded successfully. The three-day event brought together over 350 exhibiting companies and participants from 48 countries and regions.

1. China has pulled back from funding Pakistan’s flagship CPEC rail project, mainly due to persistent attacks and escalating project costs.

2. Twenty-six Western allies have officially pledged to deploy troops by land, sea, or air in Ukraine after the conflict with Russia ends. French President Emmanuel Macron made this announcement after a summit of 35 nations supporting Ukraine, dubbed the ‘Coalition of the Willing.’

3. Sri Lanka and Italy held their first Political Consultations in Colombo. The talks were co-chaired by Sri Lankan Deputy Foreign Minister Arun Hemachandra and Italy’s Deputy Foreign Minister Maria Tripodi.

4. Nepal government has banned 26 Unregistered Social Media Sites, Including Facebook, WhatsApp, Instagram.

5. The Supreme Court of Bangladesh upheld the High Court’s decision to acquit all 38 accused in the notorious 21 August 2004 grenade attack case, including Tarique Rahman, the acting chairman of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP).
