2. PM Modi inaugurated 108th Indian Science Congress (ISC) through video conferencing held at Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj Nagpur University, Maharashtra. Addressing the inaugural session of the five-day event, Prime Minister said, India’s scientific community will play an important role in achieving the heights India will reach in the next 25 years. He said, in the field of Science, India has found its place in the top 10 countries of the world.

1. Govt & Asian Development Bank sign several loan agreements to boost infrastructure sector in India.

The Finance Ministry said, a loan agreement was signed worth 350 million US dollars to improve connectivity in Maharashtra, and a loan agreement worth 300 million US dollars will be utilised to upgrade over 300 kilometres of State highways and major district roads in Assam.

A loan agreement worth 350 million US dollars was signed to build new lines and improve the connectivity of the metro rail system in Chennai.

2. Indian Railways registers an increase of 71% in total approximate earnings in passenger segment. Its revenue increased during April to December 2022 to Rs 48 thousand 913 crore.

3. India is fast becoming one of top countries in the world in the field of science. Till 2015 we were at 81st place in the Global Innovation Index of 130 countries, but in 2022 we have reached the 40th place.

4. Centre aims to reduce spending on food and fertiliser subsidies to ₹3.7 lakh crore in the coming fiscal, down 26% from this year.

5. The Ministry of Finance has kept the rate of interest on savings under the General Provident Fund (GPF) unchanged at 7.1% and it will remain applicable till the quarter ending March 31, 2023.

1. Capt Shiva Chauhan of Indian Army became the first woman officer to be operationally deployed at Siachen, the highest battlefield of the world.

2. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh attended inauguration ceremony at Border Roads Organisation, Siyom Bridge on Along- Yinkiong Road in Arunachal Pradesh.

He dedicated 28 infrastructure Projects to the Nation at a cost of Rs 724 Cr. It includes 22 Bridges, 03 Roads and 03 other miscellaneous projects.

3. Indian Army personnel can now study the Chinese language and enrol for other courses at the University of Ladakh.
