Ganesh Chaturthi usually a 10 days festival which starts on the shukla paksha chaturthi (fourth day of the waxing moon) in the month of Bhadrapada according to the Indian calendar.

8. The Ministry of Railways and NTPC convened a National Conference on Fly Ash Utilisation and Transportation at the Power Management Institute in Noida. The Ministry highlighted that in 2024-25, India generated more than 340 million tonnes of fly ash, of which 332.63 million tonnes were successfully utilized.

The government has set up three high-level committees to celebrate the 150th birth anniversaries of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel and tribal icon Birsa Munda, and the birth centenary of Atal Bihari Vajpayee. According to the Union Culture Ministry, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be the chairman of all three committees. The Committee is tasked to approve plans, programmes, supervise and guide the commemoration ceremony across the country.

10. The Kailash Manasarovar Yatra via Nathu La Pass in Sikkim ended with the return of the 10th batch of 48 tourists from the pilgrimage site, officials said on Monday.

15. India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast that heavy rainfall will continue over the Northwest, Central and Eastern parts of the country for the next 4-5 days. Heavy to very heavy rainfall is expected at isolated places over Chhattisgarh, Maharashtra and Odisha.

1. The Government has imposed stock limits on wheat to manage the overall food security and to prevent hoarding and unscrupulous speculation. The stock limit for the traders and wholesalers has been reduced to two thousand metric tonnes from three thousand metric tonnes in the revised stock limit.

8. The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has appointed Executive Director Indranil Bhattacharyya as an ex officio member of the Monetary Policy Committee (MPC), replacing Rajiv Ranjan ahead of the October policy meeting.

9. The central government has cleared the early disbursement of August 2025 salaries, wages, and pensions for its employees and pensioners in Maharashtra and Kerala. The move comes in view of the upcoming Ganapati celebrations in Maharashtra and the Onam festivities in Kerala.

1. The teaser for ‘Baahubali: The Epic,’ a remastered and re-edited version of two-part film, has released, exciting fans. To commemorate the first film’s 10th anniversary, director SS Rajamouli announced the combined film, set to release on October 31, 2025. The original films earned a combined ₹2438.06 crore worldwide, with the second installment becoming the third-highest-grossing Indian movie ever.

2. Renowned film producer Boney Kapoor has approached the Madras High Court alleging that three individuals have been unlawfully claiming right over an immovable property purchased by his wife and veteran actor A. Sridevi (since dead) at East Coast Road (ECR) in Chennai in 1988.

Bollywood actor Govinda and his wife Sunita Ahuja have been in the spotlight recently after reports claimed that Sunita had filed for divorce in December last year, allegedly citing adultery, cruelty, and desertion. However, the rumors were quickly dismissed by Govinda’s manager as well as the couple’s daughter, Tina Ahuja, who clarified that the reports were baseless, though confirming that Sunita did file for a divorce seven months ago but everything is getting settled.

1. Raksha Mantri Rajnath Singh commissioned two of the Indian Navy’s advanced frontline frigates, INS Udaygiri and INS Himgiri, at the Eastern Naval Command in Visakhapatnam. Calls it the success of Make in India and Atmanirbhar Bharat initiatives.

2. The Indian Army will organise an Agniveer recruitment rally for shortlisted candidates from Arunachal Pradesh at Gyaptong Regional Stadium in Rupa from September 3 to 5, 2025, under the aegis of the Army Recruiting Office (ARO), Jorhat.

3. The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) achieved milestone on 24 August 2025 by successfully conducting its first Integrated Air Drop Test (IADT-1). This test is crucial for the Gaganyaan mission, India’s maiden human spaceflight programme. The trial demonstrated the reliability of the parachute-based deceleration system designed to safely return astronauts to Earth. This achievement marks a key step towards human-rating India’s spaceflight launch and recovery systems.

4. The 14th edition of the India-Thailand joint military exercise Maitree is scheduled from 1 to 14 September 2025. It will be held at the Foreign Training Node in Umroi, Meghalaya. This exercise returns to Indian soil after five years. It aims to enhance the operational capabilities of both armies in counter-terrorism operations in semi-urban terrain under the United Nations mandate.

5. The ambitious “Sudarshan Chakra” project, recently announced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Independence Day 2025, is envisioned as a robust indigenous multi-layered air defence shield aimed at safeguarding India’s vital strategic and civilian assets against hostile threats.

On Tuesday, Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) General Anil Chauhan delivered his first official remarks on the initiative at the Ran Samwad conference held at the Army War College.

6. The Indian Navy is set to host the ‘Emerging Leaders Panel Discussion’ under the framework of the Indian Ocean Naval Symposium (IONS) from August 27–28, 2025, at the Southern Naval Command, Kochi.This high-profile two-day event will convene young naval leaders from 18 IONS member nations.
