War:
“Those who have seen war know the price of it.”
War comes at a cost, a cost that none of us are ready to pay, and yet, unfortunately, we are stuck in a loop with it. We keep repeating the same mistake over and over again.
We, together as a world, have been through it numerous times, and images of war are still young and alive in us, like the image of bombing where human body parts are first shredded to pieces, then scattered all around, blood flowing like a stream so bold and warm, and yet, we let it happen again.
People who should be doing something to stop it are sitting at their homes luxuriously because it is not their homes, i.e., burning, it is not their family being physically abused and tortured. War is all around us, in us.
Blood Across The World:
Russia-Ukraine: The war between the two broke out just after COVID in 2022, and even after 3 years of millions of soldiers and civilians losing their lives on the front, we have been unsuccessful in bringing an end to it.
There are two kinds of stakeholders:
One in power: benefited from the war in some or the other way, hence, not at all willing to bring it to an end.
And those who genuinely wish for it to end are powerless; even the UN is unable to bring peace here.
Israel- Palestine: A land where almost daily a child becomes an orphan, a wife-widow. Seems like people born here are doomed. News of people dying in Gaza has become creative now, like being bombed, receiving humanitarian assistance, starving to death, etc. Nearby nations have also closed the door to the people of Gaza.
Myanmar: With Aung San Suu Kyi in power, there was hope for the people of Myanmar that the country is set in the right direction and today or tomorrow it will know democracy in its true sense and will rise. But with daily human rights violations by the Junta Military against minorities, the future of the country is heavily clouded with blood, violence, and exploitation.
Afghanistan: The Talibans have also become creative now in restricting women; when nothing was left, they curbed her standing on the window. Seriously, is it moving forward or backward?
Waiting For The Light:
We need a world leader who can unite us all, not just in words and documents like the United Nations,, but in heart and soul, who can forge brotherhood in our veins and can make Vasudhev Kumutbalm a reality. Gandhiji was right when he said, We have here enough for everyone’s need but not for everyone’s greed.
We are fighting out of spite, to gain more power, to expand our territory, to lead in the military, and to be world leaders but in this race, we are losing who we are, our essence, our interconnectedness to each other.
