Rajinikanth’s Coolie has opened its weekday phase at the box office, and no surprise there, collections have seen a mild fall as opposed to its opening weekend smashing a record. Yet, the movie is ruling the roost, crossing the ₹175 crore mark in merely four days, while also keeping a lead above War 2 when it comes to cumulative collection.
Slight dip after blockbuster weekend
There was a thunderous opening, with the movie reaching ₹150 crore in three days, after which Monday recorded a drop in figures as the footfalls tended to normalize. As per preliminary trade predictions, Coolie earned approximately ₹27–28 crore on day 4, bringing its overall collection to over ₹175 crore globally. Even with the slump, these are huge numbers for a weekday, reflecting Rajinikanth’s consistent box-office pull.
Comparison with War 2
The slowdown hasn’t been devastating to Coolie’s box office competition. Hrithik Roshan and NTR Jr.’s War 2, one of the most eagerly awaited releases this year, is now behind Rajinikanth’s movie in cumulative collections at the same stage of release. Analysts explain that Coolie’s good beginning provided it with a comfortable advantage that War 2 hasn’t been able to catch up with.
Audience response remains strong
Despite the dip, viewers’ responses continue to generate momentum for the movie. Enthusiasts in Tamil Nadu and other South Indian states continue to throng theaters, and foreign collections are also consistent. The action scenes, music, and Rajinikanth’s charismatic presence in the movie are generating repeat business, sending theaters into a tizzy.
What’s next
Trade analysts opine Coolie will settle down during the weekdays before gaining momentum once again on the second weekend. If the trend continues, the movie may cross the ₹250 crore mark in its opening week and cement its position among the top earners of the year.
Even with Monday’s dip, Coolie is an unequivocal box-office hit, demonstrating yet again why Rajinikanth remains the undisputed icon of Indian cinema.
