Bangladesh Celebrates 52nd victory Day

1. External Affairs Minister Dr. Subrahmanyam Jaishankar has wished Deputy Prime Minister Mukhtar Tileuberdi as well as the Government and people of Kazakhstan on their Independence Day.

2. India on Friday took strong exception to the remarks of Pakistan Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto in UN Security Council terming it uncivilised and a new low, even for Pakistan.

1. Bangladesh celebrated its 52nd Victory Day, known as ‘Bijoy Dibos’, to mark the liberation from Pakistan in 1971 with enthusiasm and public participation on Friday.

2. 21 people including children killed after a landslide hit a holiday campsite in Batang Kali township of Selangor state, Malaysia on Friday.

3. The U.S. Senate passed legislation on Thursday authorizing a record 858 billion US dollars in annual defense spending.

4. European Union leaders added Bosnia to the list of official candidates to join the wealthy 27-nation bloc.

5. The coalition government in Slovakia has collapsed after losing a no-confidence vote in Parliament called by the opposition following months of political crisis.

78 of parliament’s 150 MPs voted in favour of the no-confidence motion. The minority government of Prime Minister Eduard Heger was formed from a coalition of three parties in the Central European country.

6. Chief of Naval Staff (CNS) Admiral R Hari Kumar called on Sri Lanka Prime Minister Dinesh Gunawardena. The meeting centred around the importance of strong defence ties between the two countries.
