1. Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman asserted that the Indian rupee has been strong against every currency.
2. The Government has said that three lakh 58 thousand crore rupees have been issued under the Emergency Credit Line Guarantee Scheme till last month. 1. Hearing a batch of pleas challenging the Armed Forces Agnipath recruitment scheme, the Delhi High Court on Monday said the scheme is voluntary and those having any problem should not join the armed forces under it.
2. The 39th edition of India-Indonesia Coordinated Patrol (IND-INDO CORPAT) between the Indian Navy and the Indonesian Navy is being conducted from 08 – 19 December 2022. Indian Naval Ship (INS) Karmuk, an indigenously built Missile Corvette participated in the pre-deployment briefing at Belawan, Indonesia.
India and Indonesia have been carrying out CORPATs twice a year since 2002, with an aim of keeping this vital part of the IOR safe and secure for commercial shipping, international trade and conduct of legitimate maritime activities.
3. Visit of Admiral R Hari Kumar, Chief of the Naval Staff to Sri Lanka from 13 Dec to 16 Dec 22.
The CNS has been invited as the Chief Guest and Reviewing Officer for the Commissioning Parade at the Naval and Maritime Academy (NMA), Trincomalee, scheduled on 15 December 2022.
4. Indian and Chinese troops clashed along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in the Tawang sector near Yangtse, Arunachal Pradesh along the LAC on December 9. The face-off resulted in “minor injuries to a few personnel from both sides”, the Indian Army said on Monday. At least Indian six soldiers were injured in the clash and were airlifted to Guwahati for treatment. More than 300 Chinese soldiers had attempted to get access to the top of 17,000-ft peak and were thwarted by Indian Army jawans, sources said. The area is now under snow. The Chinese troops wanted to uproot an Indian post, but the attempt was successfully thwarted by the Indian side.
Both sides immediately disengaged from the area.
