1. The Parliament has passed the Income-Tax Bill, 2025 and the Taxation Laws (Amendment) Bill, 2025 with Rajya Sabha returning both the legislations to the Lok Sabha after discussion.
2. The Parliament also cleared the National Sports Governance Bill, 2025 and the National Anti-Doping (Amendment) Bill, 2025 with the approval of the Rajya Sabha. The National Sports Governance Bill seeks to provide for recognition of national sports bodies and regulate their functioning.
3. The Lok Sabha has passed the Indian Ports Bill, 2025. The Bill seeks to consolidate the law relating to ports, promote integrated port development, facilitate ease of doing business and ensure the optimum utilization of India’s coastline. The Lower House also passed the Mines and Minerals (Development and Regulation) Amendment Bill, 2025.
4. The Union Cabinet of India has approved four new semiconductor manufacturing projects in the states of Odisha, Punjab, and Andhra Pradesh, with a total investment of ₹4,594 crore.
5. The Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Project (KLIP) in Telangana has recently come under intense scrutiny. Several structural issues and administrative decisions have sparked debates about its execution and management. A judicial inquiry has been conducted to investigate the allegations. The Indian National Space Promotion and Authorisation Centre (IN-SPACe) on August 12, 2025, officially announced the selection of a consortium led by Bangalore-based Pixxel Space India to develop and operate India’s first fully indigenous commercial Earth Observation (EO) satellite constellation.

Two Indian analogue astronauts, Rahul Mogalapalli and Yaman Akot, successfully completed a 10-day mission inside the Himalayan Outpost for Planetary Exploration (HOPE) habitat located in the remote region of Tso Kar, about 150 kilometres from Leh, Ladakh.This mission was designed to simulate the stresses and routines of lunar and Martian exploration.
9. ISRO Chairman V Narayanan announced that within the next couple of months, ISRO will launch a 6,500 kg communication satellite built by the United States using an Indian launcher from Indian soil.
10. Indian Railways introduces a 20% rebate on return journey base fare for round trip bookings during the 2025 festive season. Bookings open August 14.
11. Farmers from across the country today thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his bold decision in trade agreements despite foreign pressure. A large gathering of farmer organisation leaders and cultivators met with Union Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan in New Delhi to express gratitude and support for government’s decisive action to protect farmers’ interests.

1. The Election Commission has rejected claims of political parties including Congress Leader Rahul Gandhi, RJD on Special Intensive Revision (SIR).
2. Punjab government has withdrawn its land pooling policy, through which the state’s AAP government intended to acquire over 65,000 acres. Principal Secretary, Department of Housing & Urban Development, Punjab declared that the government hereby withdraws the Land Pooling Policy of May, 2025 and its subsequent amendments. Consequently, all actions taken thereunder shall be reversed henceforth.
3. The Union ministry of personnel on Tuesday promoted four Punjab Civil Services (PCS) officers as Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officers. These officers are Rajdeep Singh Brar, Bikramjit Singh Shergill, Harsuhinder Singh Brar and Rubinderjit Singh Brar.

The search operation for the missing people continues in the disaster-affected Dharali-Harsil region of Uttarkashi district, Uttarakhand. So far, 1,308 people have been rescued. 1. India’s retail inflation eased to an over eight-year low of 1.55% in July 2025, supported by a significant cooling in food prices, according to the latest government data. This is the first time in over six years that inflation has fallen below the Reserve Bank of India’s (RBI) tolerance band of 2% to 6%. The last time inflation was lower was in June 2017.
2. Adani Defence Systems and Technologies Ltd. 1. Actor Amitabh Bachchan will host decorated officers from the Indian Armed Forces in the Independence Day special episode of Kaun Banega Crorepati (KBC) season 17.
In a promo release of the show, Bachchan welcomed Colonel Sofiya Qureshi of the Indian Army, Wing Commander Vyomika Singh of the Indian Air Force and Commander Prerna Deosthalee of the Indian Navy. India is actively engaged in defence talks with the United States focused on fast-tracking the delivery of General Electric (GE) F404 engines for its indigenous TEJAS MK-1A light combat aircraft.After experiencing delays of over a year, India has received two F404 engines so far, with a third scheduled for delivery this month.
2. The Indian Navy has successfully completed its first-ever Rescue Seat Certification for the South African Navy’s submarine SAS Manthatisi, marking a historic milestone and further strengthening bilateral maritime ties between India and South Africa.
3. Lieutenant General Sultan Kamaletdinov, the First Deputy Minister of Defence and Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Kazakhstan, held a high-level meeting with Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Upendra Dwivedi in New Delhi on August 11, 2025, focusing on enhancing bilateral defence cooperation and expanding military-to-military ties between Kazakhstan and India.
4. India has issued a NOTAM (Notice to Airmen) warning for a missile test scheduled off the Odisha coast, covering an area of approximately 1,560 km, set to take place between 20 & 21 August, 2025. This warning indicates that the region will be temporarily restricted for air and maritime traffic to ensure safety during the missile testing period.
5. The Border Security Force (BSF) has initiated a high-intensity security drive, ‘Operation Alert’, along the Rajasthan border in the run-up to Independence Day 2025. 7. The Supreme Court on Monday struck down the Indian Army’s policy of reserving six out of nine Judge Advocate General (JAG) branch vacancies for men and only three for women, calling it “arbitrary”, unconstitutional and contrary to the principle of gender neutrality.
