1. President Smt Droupadi Murmu lauded AIIMS Deoghar for its commitment to improving healthcare in tribal regions, particularly through the adoption of five tribal villages and ensuring better primary medical services within just six years of its establishment.

2. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will release the 20th instalment of PM-KISAN by disbursing more than 20 thousand 500 crore rupees to over nine crore 70 lakh farmers on Saturday during his visit to Varanasi in Uttar Pradesh.

3. Both Houses of Parliament witness repeated adjournments amid uproar by opposition parties, demanding discussion on Special Intensive Revision of electoral roll in Bihar.

4. In Bihar, the Election Commission will publish the draft electoral rolls prepared as part of a special intensive revision. The EC claims that there were 7.93 crore registered voters in the state, until SIR was ordered late last month, triggering angry protests from the Opposition and some other organisations.

5. The Election Commission has finalized the Electoral College list for the 2025 Vice-Presidential Election, as mandated by the Constitution. The Vice-President is elected by an Electoral College comprising the elected members of the Rajya Sabha, nominated members of the Rajya Sabha and the elected members of the Lok Sabha.

6. Maharashtra minister and Nationalist Congress Party MLA Manikrao Kokate was on Thursday shifted from the agriculture ministry to the sports and youth welfare department.

7. Union Cabinet approves total outlay of 6,520 crore rupees for expansion of Pradhan Mantri Kisan Sampada Yojana.

8. Union Communications Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia said that Elon Musk-led Starlink has received a licence to launch satellite internet service in India and a framework for spectrum allocation is also in place for a smooth rollout.

9. Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla on Thursday (July 31, 2025) announced that N.K. Premachandran has been nominated as an empanelled member to preside over the proceedings of the House.

*According to the rule, at the commencement of the House or from time to time, as the case may be, the Speaker shall nominate from amongst the members a panel of not more than 10 Chairpersons, anyone of whom may preside over the House in the absence of the Speaker and the Deputy Speaker.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast very heavy rainfall tomorrow in parts of Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Gangetic West Bengal, Himachal Pradesh, Jharkhand, Sikkim, the northeastern states, and Uttarakhand.

1. A special NIA court in Mumbai today acquitted all seven accused, including former BJP MP Pragya Singh Thakur and Lt. Col. Prasad Purohit, in the 2008 Malegaon blast case. The NIA court, in its judgment, said that the prosecution ‘failed to prove the case’ and that the accused ‘deserved the benefit of doubt’.

On 29 September 2008, six people were killed and 95 others injured when an explosive device strapped to a motorcycle detonated near a mosque in Malegaon City.

2. AliExpress removes Jagannath doormats after backlash, apologises: A major controversy erupted in Odisha after it came to light that Chinese e-commerce platform AliExpress was selling doormats featuring the image of Lord Jagannath.

3. Congress leader Rahul Gandhi is set to lead a week-long padyatra (foot march) in poll-bound Bihar as part of a comprehensive plan to protest against the Election Commission’s special intensive revision (SIR) of electoral rolls.

4. Former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister O Panneerselvam (OPS) has officially withdrawn his faction – the AIADMK Cadres Rights Retrieval Committee – from the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA).

1. India is leading the world in fast payments, thanks to the Unified Payments Interface (UPI). The International Monetary Fund (IMF) highlighted this in a note titled “Growing Retail Digital Payments: The Value of Interoperability.” Launched by the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) in 2016, UPI has revolutionised money transfers in India.

Starting from 01 August 2025, new UPI rules will be implemented to enhance system performance and reduce fraud.

2. esla India is all set to launch its second showroom in India, following the one in Mumbai. This new dealership of the brand will open in Delhi’s Aerocity near the IGI airport.

1. Lt Gen Pushpendra Singh is poised to become the next Vice Chief of the Army Staff on 01 August, succeeding Lt Gen NS Raja Subramani.

2. Vice Chief of the Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Krishna Swaminathan, is set to be the next Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief of the Western Naval Command. He had assumed charge as the Vice Chief of the Naval Staff (VCNS) on May 1, 2024.

Vice Admiral Sanjay Vatsayan, set to be the next VCNS, will take charge on August 1.

3. The Defence Ministry said the third ship of Nilgiri Class (Project 17A) and the first of the class built at Garden Reach Shipbuilders & Engineers was delivered to the Indian Navy at Kolkata.

4. HAL signed a $1 billion manufacturing license agreement with General Electric to co-produce F414 engines for the Tejas Mk2 fighter with 80% technology transfer; the deal is expected to be finalized by March 2026 with local production starting by 2028.

5. BonV Aero conducted successful trials of its logistics and goods supply drone with the CRPF’s elite Cobra unit, showcasing night and day sorties including a 10km paradrop in hostile jungle terrain.
