One-Year-Old Boy Bites Cobra to Death in Bihar, Survives the Daring Experience

Bihar News 1 1

In a shocking and near-impossible situation in Mohachchhi Bankatwa village in Bihar’s West Champaran district, a one-year-old boy bit a venomous cobra to death and even came out alive. The child, Govind Kumar, is said to have killed the snake with his own bite after the snake wrapped itself around his hand while he was playing outside his house.

The incident took place on the morning of July 26, striking terror in the village and making headlines due to the extreme uncommonness of the event.

Cobra Dies on the Spot, Boy Rushed to Hospital

Witnesses report that Govind was playing outside when the cobra crawled up and coiled itself around his hand. The scared toddler, according to relatives, bit the head of the snake out of reflex, which immediately killed it. The snake was reportedly a 2-foot Indian cobra that succumbed to trauma brought on by the bite.

Soon after the encounter, Govind lost consciousness and his family rushed him to a nearby Primary Health Center (PHC) and later to the Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) at Bettiah. Doctors have ascertained that the boy had no outward signs of a venomous cobra’s bite and opine that the cobra either did not administer venom or did not bite properly while fighting.

Doctors Stunned, Boy in Stable Condition

Medics attending to Govind termed the incident as “highly unusual” and “miraculous.” The attending doctor said, “We have thoroughly examined him. He is stable and showing a good response. Perhaps the snake never had a chance to strike or inject venom before the trauma killed it.”

The body of the cobra was taken over by forest officers, while Govind continues to be kept under medical supervision for precautionary purposes.

Villagers Declare It a Miracle, Experts Exercise Caution

Govind’s grandmother, Mateshwari Devi, informed journalists that his mother had ventured out to fetch firewood when this occurred. He bit the snake before it could hurt him. “It’s nothing short of a miracle,” she stated.

While the community is still in wonder over the survival of the child, experts caution that this was an uncommon case and should not be glorified. As the monsoon season triggers more reports of snakes being spotted, physicians advise rural families to keep children under close observation and rush to the hospital immediately if bitten.

This surreal and terrifying experience is now both a survival story and a stark reminder of the perils to be faced in snake-infested areas in a time of rain.
