republic day 2023 india invites egypt president abdel fattah el sisi as chief guest

1. India has invited President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi of Egypt to be the chief guest at the Republic Day ceremony in the national capital on 26 January 2023.

2. India on 24 Nov abstained from voting on a United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC) resolution to set up a fact-finding mission to investigate the alleged Human Rights violation committed on protesters in Iran that started on 16 September 2022.

3. G-20 delegation arrives in Port Blair for interactive briefing for Heads of Missions of G20 countries in India.

4. India won the International Electrotechnical Commission, IEC Vice Presidency and Strategic Management Board (SMB) Chair for the 2023-25 term. Mr. Vimal Mahendru will be the IEC Vice President representing India.

6. India and the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) have decided to pursue resumption of Free Trade Agreement (FTA) negotiations.
