Call me Hope

Call me Hope

“Every breath we take, every step we make, can be filled with peace, joy and serenity.”
—Thich Nhat Hanh

I wanted the peace,
that was taken away
from me.

I wanted the light,
that will guide me through
without getting lost.

So, I interrupted the passerby
asking if he lost his and
by chance took mine. He
stared at me with utter
astonishment and then,
fled as if looked at
the Canterville Ghost.

This went on.

My expedition for the things that
are invisible and a portion of the world
believing me insane like Faustus.

But one fine morning,
an old white lady with wrinkles
like Teresa cared to look
at me in the eyes and said:

“What you look for so desperately,
Child, you have it
right inside yourself.”

And there, I had itthe answer,
the truth,
the light.

I believed.

I believed in her. And
I believed in the belief
that she had in me.

I became the truth.
I became the peace.
I became the light.

Call me Hope from now on.
Forget that other name
I was bestowed
at birth. I am not her
anymore.
