1. PM Modi will visit Bihar and West Bengal today. In Bihar, the Prime Minister will lay the foundation stone, inaugurate and dedicate to the nation multiple development projects worth over seven thousand crore rupees in Motihari.

2. Monsoon Session of Parliament to be held from July 21 to August 21. Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju informed.

3. Ministry of Railways has sanctioned a Final Location Survey (FLS) for a new 77.96 kilometers rail line between Jammu and Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra. The project aims to ease travel for devotees and enhance infrastructure in Jammu and Kashmir.

4. The ninth edition of the Swachh Survekshan 2024-25 Awards was conferred by President Droupadi Murmu at a ceremony held in New Delhi yesterday.

Indore has once again retained its title as India’s cleanest city for the eighth consecutive year. In the category of cities with a population between 3 and 10 lakh.

Surat secured the second position, while Navi Mumbai ranked third in the central government’s annual cleanliness survey.

5. The Swachh Survekshan 2024–25, India’s largest cleanliness survey conducted by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs under the Swachh Bharat Mission (SBM), has declared Ahmedabad as the cleanest city in the category of cities with a population of over 10 lakh.

6. Gujarat has become the first Indian state to launch a Tribal Genome Sequencing Project, aimed at improving healthcare for tribal communities through genetic research.

7. The Government of India has launched a national-level initiative called the Assistance for Deployment of Energy Efficient Technologies in zllIndustrial Establishments (ADEETIE) to boost energy efficiency, particularly in Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs). The scheme was unveiled by Union Minister Manohar Lal Khattar and is backed by the Ministry of Power and implemented through the Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE) with a budget of ₹1,000 crore.

8. In Bihar government announced free electricity up to 125 units to consumers in the state from the 1st of next month. State Chief Minister Nitish Kumar announced the decision, saying it will benefit one crore 67 lakh families in the state.

9. The Indian Health Ministry launched a campaign on July 15, 2025, to spread awareness about the nutritional content of common snacks. Starting at AIIMS Nagpur, the campaign includes posters showing levels of sugar, fat, and oils in everyday foods.

10. Yakten village in Sikkim’s Pakyong district was announced as India’s first digital nomad village. This project offers a place for remote workers to stay and work in a peaceful mountain setting while also helping local families earn regular income through broadband-equipped homestays.

11. All major ghats in Varanasi have been submerged as the Ganga’s water level keeps rising due to continuous rainfall in the region. State Water Power Minister Swatantradev Singh has said that the government is being cautious about floods in the state.

13. The India Meteorological Department has forecast extremely heavy rainfall over Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh during the next 5 days. Punjab, Haryana and Rajasthan will also have similar conditions till Saturday.

1. Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau- AAIB has appealed to the media to stop selective and unverified reporting of an Air India plane crash in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, last month.

2. The National Investigation Agency, NIA has arrested two more individuals in connection with the recovery of an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) planted by the banned ULFA (I) terror group. The NIA said, the device was discovered near Dispur Last Gate in Guwahati and was part of a larger conspiracy to carry out multiple blasts in Assam on Independence Day last year.

3. The Delhi government has recently notified the Delhi Transgender Persons (Protection of Rights) Rules, 2025. This marks step towards safeguarding the rights and welfare of transgender persons in the national capital. The notification empowers district magistrates to issue identity certificates to transgender individuals and establishes a dedicated welfare board for their empowerment.

4. Enforcement Directorate (ED) conducts searches in connection with the Chhangur Baba religious conversion case. Search operations were conducted at 14 premises, 12 in Utraula, Balrampur in Uttar Pradesh and 2 in Mumbai.

5. Karnataka State Government has blamed the Royal Challengers Bengaluru IPL cricket team for the stampede that resulted in 11 deaths and over 50 injuries outside the gates of Chinnaswamy stadium in Bengaluru last month.

1. In Bihar, at least 19 people were killed and several injured due to lightning in the past 24 hours. Maximum five casualties have been reported in Nalanda district followed by four in Vaishali district. All the fatalities occurred during rains while people were working in the fields.

Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has announced an ex gratia of 4 lakh rupees each to the next of the kin of the deceased.

2. In Maharashtra, seven persons, including three women and one child, were killed and two others seriously injured after a car collided with a motorcycle in Nashik district.

The Lok Sabha Select Committee has submitted its report on the Income Tax Bill, 2025. The bill aims to replace the Income Tax Act, 1961, with effect from April 1, 2026. The committee suggested 285 changes focused mainly on simplifying the bill’s language and removing contentious clauses.

1. India has achieved a significant milestone by successfully destroying two Aerial High Speed Unmanned targets at high-altitude in Ladakh by Akash Prime, which is the upgraded variant of Akash Weapon System for the Indian Army. The Weapon System is customised to operate in altitude and above 4,500 metres and has latest upgrades including indigenously developed Radio Frequency seeker.

2. INS Nilgiri, the lead ship of the Nilgiri Class stealth guided missile frigates, sailed to Chennai harbour for the first time yesterday. Built indigenously under Project 17A, INS Nilgiri stands as a testament to India’s growing prowess in shipbuilding and maritime capabilities. The ship is equipped with cutting-edge weapons and sensors, significantly enhancing the operational might of the Indian Navy. The ship was commissioned into the Indian Navy by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on 15th January this year.

3. The Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) personnel deployed at the Parliament building are being trained with the Army to combat terrorist strikes, drone attacks and internal sabotage, a CISF official said on Thursday (July 17, 2025). The CISF took over Parliament security in June 2024 following a security breach in the new Parliament building on December 13, 2023. It replaced the Delhi Police and the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF).
