1. The Government has convened an all-party meeting on Sunday ahead of the Monsoon Session of the Parliament. During the meeting, the government will seek cooperation from all political parties to ensure the smooth functioning of both Houses of Parliament. The Monsoon Session will be held from the 21st of this month to the 21st of next month.

2. The Union Cabinet has approved Prime Minister Dhan-Dhaanya Krishi Yojana to enhance agricultural productivity. The scheme aims to increase crop diversification and sustainable agricultural practices, augment post-harvest storage, improve irrigation facilities and facilitate availability of credit. It will help one crore 70 lakh farmers of the country.

3. The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs CCEA has approved enhanced delegation of power to NTPC from the extant guidelines of delegation of power to Maharatna Central Public Sector Enterprises.

4. The Election Commission has said that over six crore 99 lakh enumeration forms have been collected in Bihar so far under the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) initiative which is 88.65 percent of the total enumeration forms.

5. Minister of State for Road Transport and Highways Harsh Malhotra said the Government is committed to developing highways in backward areas of the country. He visited Tiryani, an aspirational block in Komaram Bheem Asifabad district in Telangana.

6. The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has asked schools to establish Oil Boards to promote a healthy lifestyle among students.

7. Amid the likelihood of President’s Rule extension in Manipur, the Centre on Wednesday (July 16, 2025) appointed 1991-batch Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer Puneet Kumar Goel as the new Chief Secretary of the north-eastern State.

8. Delhi is set to conduct its first cloud seeding operation between August 30 and September 10, 2025. This initiative aims to reduce air pollution by triggering artificial rainfall. The project was postponed from July following expert advice from the India Meteorological Department (IMD) and the Indian Institute of Tropical Meteorology (IITM), Pune. The Rs 3.21 crore project will use five modified Cessna aircraft to seed clouds over northwest and outer Delhi.

What Is Cloud Seeding?
Cloud seeding is a weather modification technique. It involves adding substances like silver iodide, dry ice, or salt particles to clouds. These materials encourage cloud droplets to form and fall as rain or snow. The process requires existing clouds and can increase rainfall by 5-15 per cent.

9. Lucknow University vice-chancellor professor Alok Kumar Rai has been appointed as the director of Indian Institute of Management-Calcutta (IIM-C).

10. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast heavy to very heavy rainfall over Kerala, Mahe, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Lakshadweep, Andhra Pradesh, Rayalaseema and Telangana for the next six days.

1. In Jharkhand, two Naxals have been killed in an encounter by security forces in the Kashitand forest of Lugu hills in Bokaro district. A soldier of the Cobra battalion lost his life in the gun fight.

2. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has intensified its demand for a voter list free of Rohingya immigrants in West Bengal, ahead of the upcoming assembly elections scheduled for early next year. Leader of Opposition Suvendu Adhikari led a protest march to the office of the Chief Electoral Officer in Kolkata, accusing the ruling Trinamool Congress (TMC) of attempting to include Rohingya names in the electoral rolls.

3. Delhi High Court reserved its verdict on the plea of AgustaWestland VVIP Chopper scam accused Shravan Gupta to quash a non-bailable warrant.

4. Karnataka Forest Department has signed an MoU with the Indian Institute of Science for landscape-level Conservation of Asian Elephants by reducing animal human conflicts. Karnataka with around 6400 elephants, is the most critical elephant range in Asia.

5. The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has issued notices to Chief Secretary and the Director General of Police of Bihar over the reported killing and burning of five members of a family on suspicion of practicing witchcraft in Purnia.

6. Many villagers from three districts in Arunachal Pradesh participated in a rally at the village of Geku in Upper Siang, taking out a peaceful march against the proposed Siang Upper Multipurpose Project, a nearly 12,000-megawatt hydropower project that is being mooted across the Siang river in northeastern Arunachal Pradesh.

Local communities have been agitating against the hydropower project and dam – being implemented by the National Hydroelectric Power Corporation (NHPC) – for several years now, fearing displacement from their ancestral lands.

1. The Bombay High Court has directed the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) to respond to a petition filed by Samrat Cinematics, alleging “arbitrary, unreasonable and unexplained” delay in certifying their upcoming film Ajey: The Untold Story of a Yogi, based on Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.

2. Actor-politician Kamal Haasan met his longtime friend and actor Rajinikanth at the latter’s Chennai home on Wednesday. The meeting happened days ahead of Haasan’s oath-taking ceremony as a Rajya Sabha member.

3. Veteran actor and producer Dheeraj Kumar passed away in Mumbai om 15 July. He was 79.

1. The Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) General Anil Chauhan yesterday said, Indian Armed Forces successfully unarmed drones and loitering munitions used by Pakistan during the recent Operation Sindoor. General Chauhan was addressing a Workshop on Unmanned Aerial Vehicle and Counter-UAS indigenisation in New Delhi.

2. The Union Ministry of Home Affairs has given in-principle approval to the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) to raise 20 new battalions, adding over 20 thousand personnel, for deployment in Jammu and Kashmir.
