INTERNATIONAL NEWS

1. External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar will represent India at the 21st Meeting of the Council of Heads of Government of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) which will be held virtually on Tuesday, Nov. 1.

2. The International Union of Geological Sciences (IUGS), one of the largest scientific organisations of UNESCO, has recognised the Mawmluh Cave, located in the East Khasi Hills district of Meghalaya.

3. The sixth High Level Dialogue on Migration and Mobility (HLDMM) between India and European Union (EU) was held in Brussels on October 27, 2022. The fifth edition was organized in New Delhi in 2019.

4. A Taiwanese minister will travel to India this week with a 70-member trade delegation for wide-ranging talks on economic cooperation and to explore new opportunities at two business events.

5. The British Parliament on October 28 celebrated the 75th year of the signing of the Instrument of Accession by Maharaja Hari Singh, through which the erstwhile Princely state of Jammu and Kashmir acceded to India. The commemoration of the historic day was organized by the Jammu Kashmir Study Centre UK.

1. At least 100 people were killed and 300 injured in two car bombs that exploded outside the Education Ministry in Somalia’s capital Mogadishu on 29 Oct.

2. The United States has launched its much anticipated National Security Strategy (NSS). All U.S. Presidents are mandated by the Goldwater-Nichols Department of Defense Reorganization Act of 1986.
