17. Bahuda Yatra is the 7th day of the grand Rath Yatra festival held in Puri, Odisha. It marks the return journey of Lord Jagannath, Balabhadra and Subhadra from the Gundicha Temple back to their main temple, the Jagannath Temple. In 2025, Bahuda Yatra will take place on July 5th. ”Bahuda” means ”return.” After staying at the Gundicha Temple (their aunt’s house) for nine days, the three deities begin their journey back home to the Jagannath Temple.

1. Telangana government has constituted an expert committee to investigate the explosion that occurred in a pharma factory at Pashamylaram in Sangareddy district, claiming 40 lives and leaving 35 others injured.
2. The Karnataka Mis-Information and Fake News (Prohibition) Bill, 2025, aims to regulate social media content by defining and penalising fake news. This legislation introduces severe penalties, including up to seven years of imprisonment for offenders. The Bill defines fake news broadly. It includes “purely fabricated content” and distorted audio or video.
3. The Delhi high court on Thursday stopped Patanjali from publishing or broadcasting advertisements that allegedly criticise Dabur Chyawanprash.
4. Police rescued 271 girls, who were subjected to “exploitation and forced into flesh trade”, following search operations in various districts of Bihar in the last six months.

1. Heavy rain triggered landslides in Uttarakhand, blocking roads, including the Char Dham Yatra route. Over 40 Kedarnath pilgrims were stranded near Sonprayag last night but were safely evacuated by SDRF.
2. Heavy rainfall, cloudbursts, flash floods, and landslides have severely disrupted normal life across Himachal Pradesh. Since June 20th, rain-related incidents have claimed 63 lives, injured 109 people, and 40 individuals are still reported missing. The MeT Department has issued a Yellow Alert for heavy rainfall at some places in the state today.

1. The Information and Broadcasting Ministry has proposed amendments to the policy guidelines for Television Rating Agencies, originally issued in 2014. The proposed draft has removed some restrictive provisions for media houses to allow more players to democratise and modernise the television audience measurement ecosystem in the country. Currently, Broadcast Audience Research Council (BARC) is the only agency providing TV ratings. The proposed amendments aim to allow multiple agencies to foster healthy competition.
2. The trailer of Pawan Kalyan’s most-anticipated film HARI HARA VEERA MALLU released! It packs a powerful punch and has generated a lot of curiosity and excitement among the fans and audiences. DEFENCE News

1. Defence Acquisition Council, under the chairmanship of Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, has accorded Acceptance of Necessity for ten capital acquisition proposals amounting to over one lakh crore through indigenous sourcing. The approval was accorded for the procurement of Armoured Recovery Vehicles, Electronic Warfare System, Integrated Common Inventory Management System for the Tri-Services and Surface-to-Air Missiles.
2. The Coast Guards of India, Japan, the United States, and Australia have launched the first-ever ‘QUAD at Sea Ship Observer Mission’. Conducted aboard the US Coast Guard Cutter (USCGC) Stratton, the mission includes cross-embarkation of two officers, including women officers, from each QUAD nation. This collaborative effort marks a significant milestone in QUAD maritime cooperation.
3. The Uttar Pradesh government on Thursday approved a proposal to allocate eight acres of land in Ayodhya on a 99-year lease to the Union Ministry of Home Affairs for the establishment of a National Security Guard (NSG) hub.
4. India has launched the Super-30 upgrade program for its Su-30MKI fighter jet fleet, representing a major leap in air combat capabilities and self-reliance. The project, approved at an estimated cost of ₹63,000–66,829 crore (approximately $7.5–7.8 billion), will initially upgrade 84 Su-30MKIs over the next 3–4 years.
5. India is significantly deepening its defence and nuclear cooperation with Argentina and Brazil, signalling a new phase in its diplomatic and strategic engagement with Latin America and the broader Global South.
6. The Indian Ministry of Defence is set to launch a comprehensive review of military procurement to identify and eliminate Chinese-origin components in equipment supplied to the armed forces, as well as to assess vulnerabilities within the defence supply chain.This initiative is part of broader 2025 reforms aimed at strengthening national security and promoting self-reliance in defence manufacturing.
