Jabalpur is a city in the central Indian state of Madhya Pradesh. It is known for the Dhuandhar Falls and the white Marble Rocks at Bhedaghat. It is generally accepted that the game of Snooker originated here. On a rocky hilltop on the western outskirts of the city is the Madan Mahal Fort, built in 1116.
Jabalpur was named after a sage named Jabali, who meditated on the banks of the Narmada river.
