Actress Srushti Mishra, who is currently winning hearts as Ragini in Ram Bhavan, opened up about her personal connection with music. For her, music isn’t just sound — it’s an emotion that stays with you, lifts you up, and makes you feel understood. “Obviously, good music uplifts the mood — I truly believe that,” says Srushti, reflecting on what music means to her in her daily life. Whether she’s on set or off-duty, music plays a big part in how she resets and reconnects with herself. While some may debate the changing trends in music, Srushti has a soft spot for both the old classics and the newer remixes. “Old songs are OG — especially those black-and-white era songs, the slow love songs… they have a different vibe. I’m not totally against remixes either, especially when they’re done tastefully,” she shares. Like many of us, her playlist is a mixed bag — from unplugged versions to full-blown Bollywood item numbers. “Item songs are such mood lifters! I don’t know why, but I absolutely love them,” she laughs. “They just make you feel alive.” When asked about her all-time favorite track, she doesn’t hesitate — “It has to be ‘Phir Se Udd Chala’ from the movie Rockstar. Ranbir Kapoor’s performance, A.R. Rahman’s music — it’s a complete package. I don’t think any other song has stayed with me the way this one has. It’s my forever favorite.” Though she doesn’t consider herself a hardcore follower of any one singer, she says, “I don’t have one specific favorite singer, but I always gravitate towards songs that make me feel. Whether it’s a 90s love track or an upbeat item number — if it makes me feel something, I’ll play it on loop.” Despite her busy shooting schedule, Srushti says music is something that always finds a way into her day. “Music is survival for me. It helps me escape, it helps me express — and sometimes, it just helps me be. I don’t think I could survive without it.” As the world celebrates World Music Day, Srushti Mishra’s heartfelt words serve as a reminder that no matter what genre or decade you prefer, music is — and always will be — a constant companion in the journey of life.
