1. Indian wrestlers delivered stellar performances at the Under-23 Asian Championships, winning six medals, including five gold medals in the men’s freestyle category at Vung Tau in Vietnam on the final day yesterday. Five gold medals were won by Nikhil in 61 Kg, Sujeet Kalkal in 65 Kg, Jaideep in 74 Kg, Chander Mohan in 79 Kg and Sachin in 92 Kg.
2. In the FIH Hockey Pro League 2024-25, India’s women’s team suffered a 5-1 defeat to hosts Belgium in Antwerp today, marking their fifth consecutive loss.
India are 7th in the standings with 10 points from 13 matches, while Belgium are 3rd with 28 points in the FIH Pro League.
3. ENGLAND VS INDIA, 1st Test
India were all out for 471 in the first innings against England on the second day of the first match of the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy at Headingley in Leeds.
4. Rishabh Pant went past MS Dhoni for the most centuries by an Indian wicketkeeper in Test cricket, bringing up his seventh.
5. The All India Football Federation (AIFF) condoled the death of former AIFF Vice President and Executive Committee member, Mr. Atuo Mezhür, who passed away earlier this week. Atuo Mezhür was one of the foremost administrators of the game, having not only served as an office bearer of AIFF but also as the President and General Secretary of the Nagaland Football Association, the President of the Nagaland Tennis Association, and the General Secretary of the Nagaland Olympic Association.
