1. The 11th International Day of Yoga celebrated across the country and abroad with great enthusiasm and participation; Prime Minister Narendra Modi emphasises yoga as a tool for global harmony, urging nations to adopt it as part of public policy. PM Modi attended a 45 minutes Yoga Session following the Common Yoga Protocol along the scenic coastline at Vishakhapatnam in Andhra Pradesh.

2. President Smt. Droupadi Murmu took part in an event at Dehradun in Uttarakhand. Speaking at the event, President Murmu highlighted India’s pivotal role in promoting yoga on the world stage.

3. Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla led the celebrations in the Parliament premises. Union Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan also participated in a mass yoga event at the Pusa Campus in New Delhi.

4. In Telangana, more than three thousand Divyangs from about 19 states took part in the International Yoga Day event at Kanha Wellness Centre at Chegur.

5. The country’s first yoga policy was launched in Uttarakhand. Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said that this policy has been prepared with the aim of establishing Uttarakhand as a global capital in the field of yoga and wellness. subsidy of up to 20 lakh rupees is being provided for developing yoga and meditation centres in the state. A grant up to 10 lakh rupees has also been made to promote research in the field of yoga, meditation and naturopathy in the state.

6. The Maharashtra government will launch Majhi Vasundhara Campaign 6.0 across 28,317 local self-government bodies from April 1, 2025, to March 31, 2026, to strengthen environmental conservation efforts.

7. On the occasion of International Yoga Day, a special ‘Warkari Bhakti Yoga’ programme was organized in Pune, blending the spiritual essence of the Warkari tradition with the ancient practice of Yoga. The event was held in the presence of Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis.

8. The Bihar government has decided to increase the pensions of senior citizens, widows and people with disability under the Social Security Pension Scheme by 700 rupees per month. Chief Minister Nitish Kumar said that the beneficiaries will get enhanced pensions of 1,100 rupees from next month.

9. Union Environment, Forest and Climate Change Minister Bhupendra Yadav launched the Gharial Species Conservation Programme by releasing Gharial hatchlings into the Gerua River at Katarniaghat in Bahraich. On this occasion, the Union Minister said that forests and wildlife are the natural heritage of this earth. Union Minister added that scientific measures will have to be adopted to prevent human-wildlife conflict.

10. The Union Ministry of Rural Development (MoRD) initiated a new system to improve road maintenance under the Prime Minister Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY). The system involves attaching QR codes to maintenance information display boards for roads constructed under the scheme. This innovation aims to collect public feedback on road quality and maintenance.

11. The Election Commission of India (ECI) has updated its standard operating procedure (SOP) for verifying electronic voting machines (EVMs). This revision follows a Supreme Court ruling that allows candidates who finish second or third in elections to request checks on EVMs. The new SOP aims to enhance transparency and address concerns regarding the integrity of the electoral process.

12. The Karnataka government has approved a 5% hike in housing reservation for religious minorities, raising the quota from 10% to 15%. The decision, taken during a state Cabinet meeting led by CM Siddaramaiah, aims to address housing gaps among minority communities.

1. In 2024, Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) into India remained stable at $28 billion. This figure was consistent with 2023 levels despite a global decline in FDI flows by 11%. The United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) brought into light India’s resilience in attracting investment, moving up to the 15th position in global FDI rankings.

2. HAL has won a ₹511 crore technology transfer deal from ISRO to produce and operate Small Satellite Launch Vehicles (SSLVs). As part of India’s commercial space initiative, HAL will receive two years of comprehensive training and support from ISRO before it begins independently launching satellites.
