1. External Affairs Minister Dr S Jaishankar on 06 Oct participated in the Kiwi Indian Hall of Fame Awards 2022 and launched the book “Modi@20: Dreams Meet Delivery” in Auckland.

New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern was also present during the event. The event felicitated members of the Indian community in New Zealand for their exceptional achievements and contributions.

2. On his first visit to New Zealand, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar termed the Russia-Ukraine conflict as still hot and recalled that India was requested to press the Russians on the issue regarding the safety of Zaporizhzhya nuclear power plant when the countries increased their fighting near the nuclear facility

3. Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla reiterated that India has always supported a rules-based international order. He was addressing Presiding Officers of G-20 Parliaments (P20) on the theme “Effective Parliament, Vibrant Democracy” during the 8th Summit of Speakers of G-20 Parliaments in Jakarta.

4. India strongly condemns North Korea’s ballistic missile launch into sea of Japan.

North Korea fired two ballistic missiles into the Sea of Japan on 06 Oct. Japan’s Prime Minister Fumio Kishida has condemned the repeated launches. Meanwhile, North Korea has justified the launching as necessary countermeasures against joint military drills by the United States and South Korea.

5. The pilot of the Turkish Airlines flight TK-054 decided to make an emergency landing at the NSC Bose International Airport in Kolkata after a passenger fell ill mid air.

6. Roxy Mathew Koll, a scientist at the Pune-based Indian Institute of Tropical Meteorology (IITM), received the American Geophysical Union’s (AGU) 2022 Devendra Lal Memorial Medal. Koll was selected for his outstanding research in Earth and space sciences.

1. The Nobel Prize in Literature for 2022 is awarded to the French author Annie Ernaux.

2. The World Bank has cut down the GDP growth rate projection for Bangladesh for the FY 2022-23 to 6.1%. It is lower by 0.6 % from the projection it made in June this year.

3. 38 people including 22 children killed in mass shootout at day care center in Thailand by an ex-policeman who later killed himself.

4. In Mexico, at least 18 people killed on Wednesday when some miscreants open fire in a city hall in San Miguel Totolapan, a town in southern part of the country.

5. The elite security force of Bangladesh Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has arrested seven youth including four who had left their homes to join a newly formed militant group named ‘Jamatul Ansar Fil Hindal Sharqiya’.

6. Russian cosmonaut Anna Kikina launched to space from US in SpaceX flight along with 3 other astronauts.
