1. External Affairs Minister Dr S Jaishankar has warned Islamabad on cross-border terrorism, saying New Delhi will strike deep into Pakistan if provoked by terrorist attacks. He asserted that there will be retribution against the terrorist outfits and their leadership in case of barbaric acts like the recent Pahalgam attack.

2. Congress MP Shashi Tharoor, who led an all-party delegation to five nations, including the USA, Panama, Guyana, Brazil and Colombia, said they held several meetings during their visit in which they received a positive response with regards to their concern.

3. Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal, who is currently visiting Switzerland, held deliberations on the India-EFTA Trade and Economic Partnership Agreement.

4. In 2025, India’s population is estimated to reach 1.46 billion, making it the most populous country in the world. According to a report by the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), this number is expected to peak at 1.7 billion in the early 2060s and then slowly start to decline.

5. Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal has signalled a pragmatic and phased strategy for ongoing India-US bilateral trade negotiations, emphasising the importance of securing immediate gains—what he terms “low-hanging fruit”—before tackling more complex and contentious issues.

1. The United Kingdom has sanctioned two Israeli ministers over their comments about Gaza. UK Foreign Secretary David Lammy said Itamar Ben-Gvir and Bezalel Smotrich will both face a travel ban on entering the UK and will have any assets in the country frozen as part of the measures.

Allegations of unauthorised prisoner releases have prompted arrests, political backlash, and calls for greater transparency from President Anura Kumara Dissanayake’s administration. Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa has demanded that the President publish the full list of 388 inmates officially granted clemency, following revelations that convicted banker W. M. Athula Tilakaratne was released without authorisation.

7. In the United States, two Indian-Americans, Sanjay Singhal and Sukh Kaur, have won city council runoff elections in Texas.
