1. Union Cabinet has decided to extend the Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana (PM-GKAY) scheme for a further period of three months from October to December this year.

2. Union Cabinet has approved Indian Railways’ proposal for redevelopment of three major railway stations in the country. These are New Delhi Railway Station, Ahmedabad Railway Station and Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus in Mumbai.

3. The Union Cabinet on 28 Sep approved 4% increase in the Dearness Allowance (DA) and Dearness Relief.

4. JALDOOT App Launched : In front of Union Minister Sadhvi Niranjan Jyoti and MoS Panchayati Raj Kapil Moreshwar Patil, the JALDOOT App and JALDOOT App e-brochure was introduced by MoS for Rural Development and Steel Faggan Singh Kulaste.

Bathukamma is observed as the state festival of Telangana since the state’s inception in 2014. This 9-day festival is celebrated based on Sathavahana calendar and it usually falls on September or October.

1. The Union Ministry of Home Affairs has banned the Popular Front of India (PFI) for 5 years and its associations under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act for their links with terrorist groups and subversive activities.

Now, the PFI has joined the LeT, JeM, al Qaida, SIMI and other extremist groups on the “banned” list.

What is PFI?

The PFI was founded in 2007 as a result of the merger of the three Muslim organizations – the National Democratic Front (NDF) in Kerala, the Karnataka Forum for Dignity and the Manitha Neethi Pasarai in Tamil Nadu. It was founded by members of the banned Students’ Islamic Movement of India (SIMI). It was created after the SIMI was banned by the Indian Government in 2001.

1. Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Minister Narendra Singh Tomar has said that foodgrain production of 149.92 million tonnes is estimated in Kharif Season 2022-23.

3. Indigenously developed special aviation fuel AVGAS 100 LL was launched by the Indian Government. It will be produced in Indian Oil’s refinery in Vadodara, Gujarat.

AVGAS 100 LL was indigenously developed by the Indian Oil Corporation for the piston engine aircrafts and unmanned aerial vehicles. It is used to power aircraft having spark-ignition piston engines, in which combustion process of the air-fuel mixture is ignited by a spark from a spark plug.

4. The Asian Development Bank announced a $14 billion assistance to fight food insecurity in Asia Pacific.

5. Finance Ministry official Vivek Aggarwal said the government is mulling decriminalising certain offences under the GST act by increasing the threshold for launching prosecution. Currently, the law provides for prosecuting in cases with misuse of an input tax credit of over ₹5 crore

1. Arrest warrant issued against Ekta Kapoor, mother Shobha Kapoor over web series ‘XXX’
Bihar’s Begusarai Court has issued arrest warrants. It issued the warrants on charges of insulting soldiers and hurting their and their family’s sentiments, over several scenes in the second season of the web series ‘XXX’.

Shambhu Kumar, an ex-serviceman, had alleged that the series featured objectionable scenes related to a soldier’s wife.

2. Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath on Wednesday inaugurated the ‘LATA MANGESHKAR CHOWK’ in Ayodhya on the late singer’s 93rd birth anniversary. Made on the banks of the Saryu river, the intersection features a 40-foot-long and 12-metre-high ‘Veena’ weighing 14 tonnes. It also features 92 lotuses depicting her 92 years of existence and seven pillars representing the seven musical notes.

4. DRDO conducted two successful test flight of Very Short Range Air Defence System (VSHORADS) missile on 27 Sep 2022 from a ground based portable launcher at the Integrated Test Range, Chandipur, off the coast of Odisha.

5. A P8I Long Range Maritime Patrol Aircraft of the Indian Navy participated in the Multinational Maritime Exercise Kakadu 2022 hosted by Royal Australian Navy in Darwin from 12 to 25 Sep 22, along with INS Satpura. The exercise had the participation of 34 aircraft from over 20 nations.
