1. Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) has added 18.23 lakh net members in July 2022 registering a growth of 24.48%.

8. KARNATAKA Education Minister BC Nagesh said that the government will introduce the Bhagavad Gita in state-run schools from December. He added that the Gita was ‘not a religious book’ as it did not promote any religious practices as the Quran did. Nagesh further said that the Gita was a moral book and that it inspires students.

9. KERALA : Former Kerala MLA K Mohammed Ali passed away at a hospital in Kochi on Tuesday at the age of 76. The veteran Congress leader was under treatment for kidney-related ailments.

CRIME REPORT

1. HIMACHAL PRADESH Central Bureau of Narcotics has destroyed 1,032 hectares of illicit cannabis cultivation in Himachal Pradesh.

2. MAHARASHTRA : Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut prima facie appears to be the recipient of proceeds of crime to the tune of ₹1.06 crore, a special court said in its order.

The court was taking cognisance of the supplementary chargesheet filed against Raut by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) last week. Raut was arrested by the ED on August 1.

1. Essar is planning to invest $4 billion to set up an integrated flat steelworks plant in Saudi Arabia, Amar Kapadia, a senior official at Essar, said.

2. OYO India CEO Ankit Gupta said that the company is working on getting a ‘green tag’ for sustainable and eco-friendly hotels on its platform. The ‘green tag’ will be given to hotels that have features such as solar powered lighting and rainwater harvesting. Recently, OYO filed financial documents with SEBI and reported EBITDA profit of ₹10.6 crore for June quarter.

3. RBI on Tuesday said that it has removed the Central Bank of India from the Prompt Corrective Action Framework list. The bank was no longer in breach of PCA parameters as per its 2021-22

1. Film Federation of India (FFI) President producer TP Aggarwal has revealed that the Gujarati film ‘Chhello Show (Last Film Show)’ was “unanimously” chosen as India’s official entry for Oscars 2023 by the jury.

2. The US Agency for International Development and UNICEF launched the Doordarshan and YouTube series titled “Door Se Namaste” at a function held in New Delhi.

A theatrical film on Duur Se Namaste was screened at the event, taking the audience through the main story, and showing how the messages of vaccine promotion and COVID-19 Appropriate Behaviour (CAB) have been interwoven in the entertainment education series.

3. Comedian Raju Srivastava passes away at 58. Raju Srivastava was admitted to AIIMS, Delhi on August 10, after he suffered a heart attack. Raju Srivastava was the entertainment industry since the 1980s. He shot to fame after participating in the first season of the reality stand-up comedy show “The Great Indian Laughter Challenge” in 2005.

He was also the chairman of the Film Development Council Uttar Pradesh.

4. Chief of Army Staff General Manoj Pandey has inaugurated Kargil International Marathon in Ladakh. The events are organized by the Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council (LAHDC), Kargil, and Ladakh police in collaboration with Sarhad Pune.

The events include runs of full length, Half, 10 km, and 5 km. In the International Marathon, over 2000 runners participated.
